Speed cameras turned off to save money?

Never heard that one before. Certainly goes against the oft-cited belief on here that they are only ever put in place to make money
They might have been turned off back when they had film in them but surely these days they're all digital

I live down the road , cameras defo dont work .Its clear they have jumped the lights , in between the lights you can definitely do about 100 in a stock S3 which obviously isnt as fast as a 600bhp conti GT. I see it as the S3 trying to catch up , the lights have long gone red frown .
Anyway i am pretty sure they are putting average speed cameras down there this week.

I know the average speed ones are going in soon, but not sure what stretches are being covered.

I think they were turned off a few years ago (plan was 3 years iirc) as couldn't afford to convert to digital. Is over that now, but probably haven't got round to converting, or were waiting to change to average ones.

So the crash happened at the wolves end by looks of it , i believe the average cameras will be from Dudley to Birmingham

I assume the Police know who the owner of the Audi is, at it was left at the scene.

There are average speed cameras on some stretches of the A406 North Circular around London. Speed limits vary 30/40/50 depending on the exact location. They do nothing to stop lunatics that weave in and out of "normal speed" traffic.

And they certainly don't eliminate speeding, I don't know whether they're actually turned off, or have a generous threshold above the limit, or tons of the cars on there are either stolen or on false plates, or drivers are clever about where the cameras are relative to where they joined the road or intend to leave it. But I still see vehicles rocketing past me at way above the posted speed limit every time I go on that road. The worst part is the flyover above Staples Corner and the westbound junction just before it, it's signed as 40mph but that seems to be the absolute minimum speed people do over it!

that damage to the BMW certainly matches the frontal damage to the Audi
As in they're both panned in?

You know exactly what he means, but you daren't accuse him of casual racism because you know damn well he's on the money.

Well, casual racism was certainly a likely option, but as long as it remains so unclear, it's not for me to accuse anybody of anything specific.

If it does turn out to be casual racism, then of course I will happily accuse him of that, but not before then. I'd like to have the facts at my disposal first.

What an odious individual.

Surely (hopefully) the air bags on the Audi will have deployed and collected some lovely DNA from the driver....

If you don't understand it why would "the rest of us" need the explanation?
I'll bet your cards are pulled so often they are laminated.............and I'm certainly not part of the "us" you refer too, I would dread to be linked with such a gutter character as yourself.

By 'innit bruvs' I'm guessing you mean they were Asian?

Would you therefore also class the kids by the same tag since they were also Asian?

I don't understand the point of your post. Black, white, Asian - the boy racers are complete and utter tts regardless.

A taxi driver was interviewed and said these two cars passed him at high speed near the McDonalds a few miles back on the same stretch, so they were likely doing it for a while.

Had to give my 9 month old a kiss and a big cuddle after reading this.

Cannot even begin to imagine what that poor family, and all those who attended, are going through.

And for what? That family is going to have to live with the fact that they’ve lost 2 innocent children over a bit of pathetic and mindless street racing for the rest of their lives.

Lock the s up and throw away the key.

Stupid this road is pretty nasty as it is never mind racing down it. So many turn offs where cars are still in the carriageway.
It’s not Birmingham either. Is it classed as Dudley that part or Coseley ?
