Always find it amusing manufactures set the car up for European motorways. So this lowers the suspension at 74mph? I'm sure that's good when the speed limit is 120 kph but why not set it a little lower for the UK specification?

Same with the boxter deploying the spoiler at 75mph
AFAIK they don't do that for Danish or Norwegian markets so why should UK be special? The Germans set up their cars for... shock horror... the Germans. And 75mph is within the motorway speed limit in most countries on the continent.

I do accept that in this particular instance they could rectify this with a software fix, which could even be done by the dealer (if you trust them with something like that...) but that is not always possible.

It says 'mild hybrid' in the article, but no details.
If I could plug mine in and achieve 30 miles on Elecktricery it want not much else in a car.
I've got the standard C8 50 TDI at the moment with the mild hybrid system.

It's just a fancy name for an integrated starter/generator with a 48V electrical system. It doesn't produce enough power on its own to drive the car without the combustion engine too. Instead, it harvests energy under braking and redeploys it during acceleration to provide additional torque. In addition to this, it allows engine-off coasting under certain conditions, such as descending a hill on a motorway.

It works quite well in my experience. The starting/stopping the engine on the move is instantaneous and seamless, and the harvesting/redeployment seems to have a decent effect on the fuel economy. My C8 50 TDI is averaging 48.2mpg since new so far (measured on total amount of fuel bought so far vs mileage). A previous C7 3.0 TDI averaged 39.6mpg under the same driving conditions.

As you've probably gathered so far though, there's no option to plug it in.

I quite like the Allroad, if they did a fast one I'd consider it.

When I lived in the US for a few years I owned one of the original allroads, 2.7T with air suspension.

The suspension was a reliability nightmare, with leaking airbags and worn out pumps.

After replacing two bags and the air pump (worn out compensating for leaks) I gave up and bought a conversion kit to take it to conventional coil suspension.

The next gen after that dropped the air suspension, I am surprised it's making a comeback.

Apparently the issue with the airbags was down to road grit getting between the exposed folds in the rubber and just rubbing holes in the bellows.

Hopefully they have fixed this design flaw.
Confused here - I have a C6 Allroad which continued to have air suspension which was my primary reason for buying one compared to my C5. it's over 10 years old now with over 100k miles and air sus continues to work perfectly.

In fact its such a good all round car being fast comfortable reliable spacious & well built so I'm keeping it, and far better than my newer S3 which apperas to be made of chocolate. Of course being dreaded diesel is now worth pennies and yes I would buy another, glad audi still build this in a market of niche SUVs it covers every base in style.
The C6 did have air suspension, but they had sorted the issues and it was a reliable system, I have not heard of many problems with it.

I had a very well equipped C6 Allroad 3.0tdi, it was a nice car. Who fitted DAB in 2006? No idea, but mine had it. It rode well, the AWD gave some security, it went pretty well, towed effortlessly (and the Bowden cable operated towbar was great) and got over 40mpg easily (even achieving that while towing an mx5, somehow). Safe and secure to drive, rode better than other Audi’s and BMWs I’ve owned/driven, but a little boring on a good road.

I’ve now got a Skoda Superb, I’d describe that in a similar way

That's an interesting/ imaginative green-grey exterior colour.

Very rarely see executive cars in interesting colour schemes.

Possibly a typo but was just having a look at these on the Audi configurator and the technical data only says 2000kg towing weight not 2500
