Starting price of £80k in the UK I reckon.
I think you may be right unless someone decides to round up to £100k...

Looks great in and out, doesn't really look like a Corvette though, apart from the backside of it.
Pretty much this. It looks ok. Not particularly well-resolved. It certainly doesn't look like a Vette, but if it sounds like one and goes like one but handles better, at the right once point, it could shift loads.

Shame it can't recapture the iconic looks of the c1, c2 and c3... (No. Not Citroens.)

I really like that.

Good proportions and some lovely design details make it a very cohesive looking car imo.

It will be really interesting to see the UK pricing.
Agreed - I expect it to be pricey in the UK though frown

Can't help thinking that the new Corvette isn't really a Corvette.
I can understand why they moved to mid engine and it looks competitive, but it's obviously not part of the lineage, and I suspect they're only using the name for marketing reasons.

it is a mid engined v8 sports car, rear wheel drive, with a removable roof, plenty of luggage space, a dual clutch, nearly 500bhp, under 60,000 USD..... and still people complain. Yesterday everyone was complaining that the auto industry is making pointless electric cars, and now they complain at this. Genuinely dont know what to say to those people - this is an incredible bargain.

Also, can this be considered a modern NSX? not exactly lightweight, but mid-engined sports car for the masses? It will be interesting to see how it stacks up dynamically.

If this comes in at something circa £80K, and is RHD, and is hitting sub 3 ( which is being quoted though I struggle to see how with the power to weight ration they are declaring ) then I think this could be a massive hit ( in what is admittedly, a small sector of the market ).

Serious rival to Cayman ,F-type, Evora and even Alpine. I would be very worried if I were TVR. Actually, I would be pretty worried if I were TVR even without this coming to market....

I wasn’t a fan of any of the spy shots, but this looks amazing now. Looks better than a Ferrari for Cayman money.

Amazing!

I was at the Indy 500 earlier this year and had a look around the Corvette stand. There were some pretty lairy colour combos, but that didn't bother the people swarming around the stand. They'll shift these by the bucket load in the states. Hopefully a few will make it here to brighten up our roads over the current grey/black/blue and more grey palette.

I love this new c8 and already trying to find a way to pre-order for export, I'll be in the US in 3 weeks so will be having a chat with the local dealers. It's going head first into the 488/Huracan/570 market at a 1/4 of the price, absolutely crazy how much of a bargain this car is and they haven't even mentioned the Z06/ZR1 variants yet

I really like this. I've had a soft spot for Corvettes for years but with them only being LHD they've never really featured as an option over here for me. I'll watch with interest as to the pricing and reviews of the RHD cars coming here.

In the meantime i've just sent the link for this article to my brother who lives in Houston to tell him he needs this in his life. He was thinking about a 458 or a Gallardo one point but this i feel will tick the same sort of boxes and he'll have a large wedge of cash remaining in his pocket!!

I think you may be in for a rude awakening regarding the price.

Was ever thus.

Love it.
Nailed the look, ethos and (speculatively) the handling I’d guess.

Want! This will dominate all if they can get the UK price point right for RHD.

Although I’m in bed, I am not naked, just tight “trunks” at the moment.

That came out looking surprisingly good - in my eyes. Not sure about that long line of buttons down the centre console, but everything else looks spot on. And at 60k USD the price is very good VFM.
I can see myself ordering one of these.
Agreed. I'm very impressed with how this turned out and am definitely interested in ordering one of these - am due to test drive an AMG GT but if the price is right on this I can't see why I'd even consider that much less any other European competitors!

Cue the usual comments about it not being as good as a 200K McLaren and not quite having the interior of a 300K Rolls Royce.

What a bargain.

Not really, they stated that it was sub-$60k in the press conference, the RHD version may be considerably more but I'm happy exporting the LHD version.

It's a tough crowd indeed. Particularly when they're not in this market. But they're entitled to an "opinion" I guess.
