Does looking at the front of this car make anybody's eyes go funny?

It looks like some sort of horizontal cut and shut, where the top of one car has been put onto the bottom of another. Except they did the headlights twice.
Makes it different and interesting. I like it.

imo there should be a rule where they're able to be bought by the public in the same trim and also be roadworthy.

So the Polestar's time either wasn't a record, or wasn't a record for very long then!
Pistonheads ran the story of the Jaguar Project 8 achieving a 7:18 lap on 24th July, so I can't see how this new time can be a new 4-door record?

This is why none of these sorts of things should be published as 'records' or rather, shouldn't hold any water as 'records' unless a proper governing body is either made up or brought in to lay down some regulations for these 'records'.

It would stop all of the "<Insert Make and Model here> claims four door, sub 2500cc, cupholder equipped, twin cigarette lighter endowed Nurburgring record!" Which then in itself has a stipulation that it's one of the several different start and finish layouts that the other vehicles it's being measured against didn't use.

Seriously, there's Bridge to Gantry, the 'Bellof' route, the Start/Finish line, the Start to Gantry etc...

Can I walk into a dealer today and buy one? No, therefore it should not be a record for a production car. Produtction car records should only be valid on cars that are on sale at the time of the lap record attempt.

So sticking ‘road’ tyres and a token interior into a race car (that’s not in any form of production and cannot legally be produced for sale and use on the public road in its current configuration) now qualifies one to claim ‘Ring records?

I don’t have any problem with the car itself, or even running it on the ‘Ring, but it would be reassuring if PH at least reported this with an eye to the absurdity of the hyperbolic claims being made by the manufacturer, and submitted it under the appropriate heading: “Talented engineers do silly s**t with race car, enthusiasts rejoice”.

For a small fee cars could be weighed at the end of any lap if the owner(s) wish to use it for publicity when the "sales" production weight must be mentioned...or something along those lines.

And to qualify as a production car it should be available for sale at list price at the end of the lap! smile
