Impressive, although it’s very expensive so irrelevant to 99% of the car buying public.

To call it a ‘turbo’ however is beyond ridiculous, and very embarrassing to be honest.

"there are a couple of gaps in the battery-packed floor to create rear footwells"

If this is true laugh

So rear passengers have their feet in essentially a bucket instead of tucked under the front seats?

Don't like the lights on the black one. Blue one seems ok.

Turbo name is misrepresenting... not good.

But at the end of the day, it's an electric Panamera... so it ain't for me, no matter how good it is.

PH really do love a Porsche don't they lol. Cringey.

Evidently, the brand is concerned not just with the prospect of launching its first proper EV - but one that sets the bar for such machines...

Any news on when the turismo-estate-crossover version will be available? Can't remember it's official name!

The Tesla Roaster doesn't exist, and the specs are yet another Musk lie.

I think that may be the first electric car (maintstream) that I've found interesting. Looks great and some impressive numbers. Curious on the price. I'd have one over a Tesla every day of the week and I suspect I'm not the only one!
Pricing is on the Porsche website.

£116000 for the Turbo and £139000 for the Turbo S.

Gulp.

Figures I've heard from the dealer are:

Turbo S - £160k
Turbo - £125k
4S - £95k
2wd model - £80k ish

All base price before (significant) option prices

Similar pricing to the 911 throughout the range.
Will be interesting to see the sales figures on these - I've just signed up to a Tesla Model 3 AWD Performance which does 0-100mph in 8.5 secs. £50k or so list price.

Now of course the Porsche will be better, but that's some premium, even ignoring Porsche options to be added. I am generally talking performance here, the Tesla cannot get near the Porsche in other aspects.

These fast EV's are crazy fast - the £50k Tesla will match a Mclaren F1 to 60mph, and it sounds like the Porsche "Turbo" will destroy that. Madness.

By calling it a Turbo it seems as though Porsche aren't feeling that great about embracing full electric cars either then.

I always moan about the weight of cars and this one weighs almost as much as the Titanic. I do wonder if electric cars will get any lighter in the future though.

£140k plus options? A pathetic 280 mile range? I don’t think the ICE world needs to lose sleep just yet...

Good picture.

I love it that Ph'ers post better pictures than the paid PH editorial team, who often give the impression they couldn't find their arses with both hands. biggrin

And the pics of the black Taycan shows exhaust tips too :-/

Unless those are pre-production cars?

Sounds great. Love how 0-60 seems to be loosing it's relevance with Porsche now quoting 0-124 speed times, in the same way Vauxhall (I think it was them) are promoting 0-30mph! Quite the contrast.

Shame that manufacturers are going down different plug compatability for charging. This is never a successful long term thing in the eyes of the punter. This needs standardising across the industry - and fast.

Finally, lets loose the silly Turbo monicker when it clearly doesn't have one. I'd like to offer up "MegaThrust" as a suitable alternative. No charge, Porsche.

The Porsche Taycan MegaThrust. A game changer indeed.

The cheaper RWD version will be an interesting one - after all, most folk don't want/need the extra performance of twin motors.
