Not sure why the biker is getting so much hate.

Yes he "put his foot down" when the Civic raced off the lights but was riding ok up to then.

There was absolutely no excuse for the Civic to run him down.
If you watch the video from the start, the biker was riding well above the limit, hogging the right hand lane which appeared to have tram tracks in them. I've ridden long enough to know that metal tracks / drain covers on the road are slippery, especially when wet and I would have avoided them at all costs. So no, his riding wasn't ok up until he crashed
I am confused why he would rather be in the lane with the tracks and not the lane where there was a full width to use.

Certainly there was one up manship going on, but on a 'busa of he'd meant to disappear he would have, or it's fked from the last time he wrecked it.

Wheel spinning or even a car edging at the lights spells a wound up / impatient driver and I would have given them a wide berth - sped off the lights, into lane one and let them carry on out of my life.

Nevertheless, no excuse for the civic driver to wipe him out, hope he gets done for it and the biker recovers. Whether or not the police charge him or not, lesson learnt you would hope - crashes hurt

That's probably the most original thing I have read on here, ever.......
Yep - if that's the banality typical of his posts it's a relief his post count is so low.

If this went to the police and they were able to identify both parties they would both be charged.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Civic was nicked hence the driver not caring.

Biker should have just let the idiot shoot off which would probably have annoyed him even more.

I don't know anything about bikes but you rarely see a car beat any bike off the lights even when they aren't racing!

When two idiots meet.

I think the Civic moved over to block the bike not realising that the bike had started to accelerate much faster.

Up to that point I bet the Civic driver was thinking he was faster than the bike and didn't anticipate the sudden acceleration.

It's Norton Avenue, the A6102 in Sheffield, a bloody silly place to indulge in such antics whether on a bike or in a car.

Why do people post up vids that are about 95% too long?

That little effort could have been conveyed it 30secs without all the preceding guff.

As for the rider...well its what happens when you dick about racing with like minded dicks.

Take your medicine son and stop whinging.

quite easy for the cops to do calculations of speed from the video, I suspect them to not be 100% sympathetic, and may even backfire non the motor cyclists

No matter how much racing etc, theres no excuse for the civic driver to move over in an attempt to block him, and having him off in the process. Left the biker nowhere to go.

Civic driver should lose his licence, dangerous driving, leaving the scene of an accident.
Biker gets points for speeding, or possibly careless

I logged on to ask quite why the biker had put this film onto the Internet. Perhaps a younger or more Facebook type person might speculate for me. Surely he’s hurt himself in that incident? And the bike must be a mess. As will the car. Would the authorities or any insurance company not take an interest in the film (if any had been informed)?

The rider and the driver appear to be utter fools. For what my opinion’s worth!

Should be fairly easy to find the Civic driver assuming it's on genuine plates.

Freeze-framing the video at the right point clearly shows the reg to be DE58 YVR.

Agree, whilst speeding, nowhere close to using most of it's power. Not the best riding I've ever seen, definitely not the worst. The Civic driver needs to be taken off the road, clearly a deliberate act to harm. He's a danger to any other road user.

Interesting you've quite easily got this when the biker who posted it said "...unfortunately, because it was dark, the licence plate of this potential murderer was not quite visible".

I'm not on facebook and I can only see the video. Have people commented on it there? Be interested what people have said...
