Obviously an interesting and important thread - Who wins the oldest OEM exhaust still going without ANY replacement parts prize?

2005 (June) C-Max 2.0 TDCi - so approaching 14.5 years.

Just sold a W211 still on its original and in very clean condition for 17 years and 165000 miles. It'll probably outlast everything else.

Booby prize to my wife's Subaru, which is going to have had a full replacement from the cat back in less than 10.

I recently bought a very cheap (£300) 51 plate MINI that still has what appears to be its original exhaust. The whole thing is remarkably rust free actually. So that's 18 years, no sign of imminent failure either.

A 19 year old clio mk2 1.2 16v with around 140k on it. The whole car seems rust free.

My 1998 BMW 328i (214k miles) was still on its original exhaust when I retired it earlier this year.

53 plate Mercedes ML. The exhaust itself is spotless too. The body of the car looks horrible though

My 106 Rallye was on it's original exhaust when I bought it, which was about 14 years old. I swapped it for something a little better sounding, ending it's tenure.

Mrs C's 1998 SLK 230 on 90,000. She's had it for over 16 years.

Rear subframe is going rusty - which is unusual for an R170 according to MB - but the exhaust is fine.

My 1994 W463 G Wagen is still on its OE exhaust.

It spent its formative years in salt-free Tokyo though.

2004 169,000 mile Alfa 166 3.2.

I’ve spoiled it by decatting the manifolds and putting a resonator back box on it. Sounds epic!

Compare with cars in the seventies and eighties where exhausts were a more frequent replacement than tyres.

Not replaced an exhaust through failure in 10 years or more.

Agree..many amusing/embarrassing moments in my childhood as my parents cars exhausts either fell off or had "sudden" conversions to boom box/biscuit tin sound upgrades as silencers rotted out.

All hail stainless steel
