Memory 1 = 'me'
Memory 2 = 'her' (if there is one). Otherwise an unused button. (Just like the rear sunblind after the first and only use to see that it works and to brag about having it without understanding the point ('cos there isn't one))
Memory 3 = 80 mph. Whatever it is you're up to, the answer is 80 mph.

The 9-5 also has three settings, useful when I was a press snapper and regularly doorstepping ne'er-do-wells (rarely celebs, more often crims or bent coppers):

1. Me driving
2. Me sleeping
3. Me sitting in the passenger seat to edit pics on the laptop but wanting the mirrors set so I can still see backwards.

However reasonable the explanation, this is the stuff this thread is made of.

In pretty much every barge I’ve owned:

1- Previous owner
2- Warwick Davis
3- Not working, full of crud and skin flakes, no one in the history of man has ever pressed it.

The truly important question is, has there been a car with more than 3? All the Mercs, ovlovs, BMWs etc I can think of seem to have 3.

My brother is a BA engineer (you know the type)

When stating my heated seats have three settings he corrects me.

It’s a FOUR position switch

Heat 1
Heat 2
Heat 3
OFF

FOUR SETTINGS.

He wouldn’t last long on here. Then again ?

I've had a disaster in the E46, I can't use the memory seat button, or the setting for dipping the passenger wing mirror when reversing. Something electrical has gone tits up, as whenever the motor activates for the wing mirror adjustment, the drivers side runs until it points to the sky and the passenger side runs till it points the floor.

I had to resort to manually adjusting them, like a poor person.

Might be worth resetting the seat control unit if you have the appropriate laptop and diag software, could be a fruity saved position for both that needs clearing out.

Or unplug the battery and leave for 30mins or so perhaps?

Possibly, but they actively fight against any adjustment when I play with the knob, so I think it's a bit more than that.
