My own car is back to being kept clean now. However I had a horrible Hyundai hire car for five days, managed this.

I thought I’d test the ceramic coating, this should all rinse off apparently

Keep us updated please, considering having a car done but at £500+ I’d quite like to see some first hand experience with it.

cool

It didn’t.
Needed pressure wash + 2 bucket wash + second pressure wash, then a nano cloth wipe down.
It was ok then, but not for long !
It’s a GTechniq coating

I had a £500 CarPro Cquartz finest reserve coating put on my MX5 from new, and I've found that it's not significantly easier to clean and it also seems to pick up swirls from even the most careful washing and drying just as much as an un-coated car. It does always look waxed after a plain wash, but it also needs 4-6 monthly "top up" coats of something that's like a quick detailing spray to keep the mad beading.

Not sure it's worth it tbh.

Thank you both, just reaffirmed my feeling and saved me £500. While I appreciate it makes some difference, it’s just not the permanently clean car solution it’s made out to be .

I bought the Carbon Collective kit and did it myself, it’s not difficult. Impressed with the results as the car is much easier to clean than our other car that isn’t coated. Biggest difference is wheels and the glass. During recent frost it just wiped off the windscreen as it couldn’t stick. ~£100

What annoys me is when some idiots choose not to wash their car through they have bird poo on it - and then wonder when they finally do clean it the pain is fubar under the poop.
