In all fairness. I though my m2 comp was a bit st and sold it after a year. Didn’t live up to the hype and it’s telling that everyone who has one of their own has modified the brakes and suspension and a few other bits to make it handle better.

And amongst all these vloggers scared to drive where they want as it won't generate views you have hubnut who drives to Croatia purely because he wants to.
But hubnut doesn’t have a fleet of nice cars to pay for. Like everyone has said, every channel has their own fan base. 20k views a video doesn’t pay for a trip to Croatia in a dbs or 911 or whatever.

Why have a fleet of cars you can't actually afford to drive compared to a more humble fleet you can actually use ?

Like most social media you have 90% people pretending to be something there not.

I find a lot of people that complain about 'Vloggers' or Youtubers don't understand Youtube for the content creator.

It's easy (and Free) to watch YT, and it's easy to not watch if you don't like a certain person/channel. It's also Free to make content and upload it!

I review RC products for many companies and get a healthy amount of views considering it's more a hobby for me (I work full time).

Anyway, one of the biggest negative comments I see is "you're just doing it for the views"... well, yeah? What creator doesn't want people to watch their video? I pride myself on the fact that I'm honest about what I have in front of me, if it's rubbish, I'll say so. And my Sub's know that, so they come back for more.

If you don't like someone, don't watch them and If you really enjoy watching someone, shout about it!

On a side note... Clickbait & a 'Hook' are not the same (that's my other gripe) lol

I didn’t say they can’t afford to drive them.

Ignore the cars for the time being.

They earn money from doing a certain thing. Like I do. I work as a project manager.

They make videos about supercars which speak to a certain viewership, might not be appealing to you but it is to 500000 other people per video (for example) This earns them enough money to own a fleet of nice cars. Same as my job really.

The problem is. They then can’t go make a video about driving a car to Croatia because their audience doesn’t like that type of content. Therefore they won’t get the 500000 views and therefore they will lose money. Even though they would probably prefer to drive a supercar to Croatia then around central london

Very much like me. I would love to go and do what I want, teach mountain biking or something like that but I’m a project manager and I need the wage from the to own a nice fleet of vehicles and I will leave the mountain biking as a hobby on the side.

The danger of making your hobby/passion your job is it can destroy the passion as it just becomes a job .

I’d also suggest that some of the ‘tubers, although they like cars, probably don’t actually enjoying ‘driving’ cars all that much. It’s more about the aesthetics and ‘surface’ of the experience.

They have the latest status symbol sports car, they enjoy gunning around London being papped by teenaged boys, but they probably don’t actually choose to ‘go for a drive’ when the cameras are turned off.

They can go into incredible detail about specification packages and how fast their cars are, but you rarely seem to get more detail or nuance about how their cars actually drive or compare to other stuff.

Once you are in the situation where your next purchase is based on how it will be received on YouTube, you've moved away from being a real enthusiast and are no longer delivering the type of content I'm interested in.

No-one cares what I'm interested in, I know; just thought I'd say.

Completely agree, hence why they all end up in roughly the same cars and the whole segment becomes stale. It comes down to out-speccing the other guys car.

I just don’t get the impression, from a lot of the channels I have watched, that they really do love cars as much as they say they do.

I think a lot of the motivation behind these channels is more about promoting and pumping up their ego’s rather than genuinely loving their subject.

Enjoying Sorted, Rob Ferretti, Matt Farah and Emelia Hartford's latest series.

Part 1 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMvj5h_PmAk
Part 2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0_ZAbxACMc

New episodes every Tuesday and Friday.

I wonder if a similar sort of series with well known (and respected) UK YouTubers could work? I did think when SOL Paul was hyping up his Scotland trip it'd be something along these lines, but that was pretty anti climatic!
Finally a decent series that follows modified cars. Plus watching Emelia is a bonus biggrin
