If you check his instagram story i think he's answered your question
I was thinking the same, I frequently film clips hours apart that join in the video and you'd never know.

I thought Damien was above the whole attitude of "if you finance it then it's not really yours".

If you can afford the monthly payment then who cares. Life is too short.

I'm sure most people finance their house and car. The world keeps on turning.

Interesting that there is very little comment from PH'ers on this....I assume if it was LLF or the like there would be people piling in asking for him to be locked up with the keys thrown away redface)

But on a side note, surely for someone who is surrounded by super/hyper cars everyday and not being able to drive any for 2 yrs won't be easy!

I like the car guys but I hate that attitude. It’s easy to say for someone that sold his company for millions.

I don’t even get the finance ‘you can’t afford it’ hate, if you can afford the monthlies, then you can afford it. What’s the difference in saving £1k a month until you have enough to buy it or paying £1k a month and having it now, costs the same. Plus because these super cars are on finance doesn’t mean they suddenly become ‘cheap’ and accessible, still a ridiculous amount of money to spend each month so must be earning it!

You know what car guys got off to a pretty good start but what a piss poor attitude.

Fair play to the guy he sold his publishing company for monopoly money but thats 0.001& of people get to do that. Most people that own fruity cars and have done well for themselves can certainly afford it and use finance. I have 2 cars on finance but others that aren't. The youtubers in the main he refers to are successful in their own right (Tim/JWW etc) I don't think these guys are probably particularly in a sweat about their outgoings.

Knob sorry. Unsub and nobody cares about your Rolex. 4/10.

I do kind of agree with him though, but you can blame a lot of that on the class system that this country seems to have, a lot of people go out there stretching themselves to the absolute limit just to be seen in a certain brand of car because it looks to the masses that "they've made it in life"

But it's an absolute fact that until you've made the last payment, you don't own anything, although i do agree that for someone who's worth millions to say that out loud does come across badly.

If it wasnt for poor people buying cars with finance none of his collection would be worth anything. Many of them would never even have been made.

He didn’t say that in any way whatsoever. He said he doesn’t like debt hanging over him and for him it would feel like you don’t own it.

Exactly. Fair play to him for clarifying that point. He has successfully built up a business outside of youtube which is something to be proud of. Id always pick his channel to watch before anything but old Harry.

I agree with both of the posts above. I am poor in comparison, but also don't like the idea of the car sitting outside being funded by a load of debt or someone else owning it. I'd rather not have it until I can own it. Just personal preference. Partly because if I suddenly become skint there's not a load of payments coming out!

It’s been done to death (finance) and for good reason. It’s always a stick for some to have a poke. It’s a facile argument. To point out, it’s certainly not as the poster a few above said ‘it’s the same, buying cash or 1k per month’. I’ve financed cars, I’ve paid cash. Cash hurts at the time but when you’ve lived through the ups and downs you will learn that financed stuff can drag. I get buyers remorse, often or just boredom.

Finance has a big place and at the end of the day it’s a free market to do as you please. I certainly don’t look at an expensive car and think i bet he has big payments. J just admire it and think the driver is living the dream.

Sometimes people forget that in life ultimately everything is borrowed. Owning cars outright suits some people not others. These days many people use passive income to fund car payments and sensible leveraging can work well for people. For some people having fixed costs is more important.

Making a video sneering at people for having car finance in a Rolls Royce is in pretty poor taste I think. Comes over very "richer than yoooow" we get it dude you have done well. We know. We noticed the collection of supercars.

In think that channel has certainly lost its way. The 718 video they did was just stupid. Worst engine ever put into a car ever? Really? Seem to have run out of ideas. One if the limitations of basing a channel around your own cars I guess. Such a shame as it started off as one of the grown ups channels.

You would imagine if you sold a business for millions you would have better things to do with your life instead of wasting time filming useless YT videos so you get more views and subs. There's not a single upload on that channel that I would call entertaining.

Unfortunately this bottom of the barrel channel reflects the current state of YT automotive channels.
