Pistonheads everybody, where speed matters, as long as it's in a car that's under 1000Kg, manual, no dashboard and will break every 5 minutes,
What an unbeliveably boring lot you all are!
You’ve got a point, I mean, There’s fun to be had here for sure. It just seems like it misses the mark for a hot hatch - it’s pretty heavy and personally I think there’s more fun to be had with a 3-pedal car, especially on the great roads you have in the UK.What an unbeliveably boring lot you all are!
Progress is progress. FWIW, I’d still take an M2 Competition over this in a heartbeat.

My issue with the old A45 is that in my experience it's a complete chav wagon. Overly noisy, overly styled, excessively driven at all times. I suspect we'll see more of the same here. Time will tell.
So if you don't spec the AMG exhaust or aero pack and don't drive like a dick then you have no issues?drpep said:

I'm also a massive fan of the R35 GTR, and I wished that they had 3 pedals but they are the same and they chase ultimate performance so they go with 2 pedals as well. If a car is all about performance then I can(just about) turn a blind eye about the lack of a third pedal.

There was a Mercedes saloon next to me at a junction last night. Had a purple neon “mood” light around the dash and doors panels. Looked like a nightclub. Not a good look.
Then choose one of the other colours for mood lighting then, and if you don't like any of the colours then turn it off. Apt username

To be fair, that was the choice of the driver/owner - one can turn off the mood lighting if they wish or indeed have the option of other colours therefore that's not the fault of the car per seFast Bug said:

On the one hand it will leave that Cayman GTS for dead, on the other it's a bit on the garish side..
No it wouldn't, the GTS has a better power to weight ratio and a higher top speed, will be capable of pulling the same g through a corner (if not more) and is hardy lacking in traction on exit with that mid engine layout, you need a huge amount of additional capability to "leave another car for dead" on the road. Traffic light LC enabled drags would go to the 45 but then you'd have to want to look like an arse...

1.6 tons. Just WTF?
Did Merc add tungsten into the chassis to keep the centre of gravity low.
Just another car with stupidly high limits of capability that's probably no fun at legal(ish) limits. Great for those pub bragging rights, or those insistent on proving how self important they are in traffic light grand prix.
No thanks.
Back to your Vauxhall Insignia for you then.Did Merc add tungsten into the chassis to keep the centre of gravity low.

I can't get beyond the interior. I went in to have a look at the A-class for my wife and the interior is such a mess and the plastic chrome everywhere is hideous. It's like no one took overall control of the design - they just left individuals to get on with their own element and then stuck them all together. Urgh.

I should like this, but whilst I respect it, I don’t desire it at all.
The interior, if anything remotely like lower models is awful. The silver plastic looks chintzy and feels cheap. The air vents feel flimsy and cheap too. The rockers to adjust the temperature are no where near the part of the screen that tells you the temperature. The alcantara dash inserts in my friends wife’s A250 are poorly fitted / stuck on. It doesn’t feel like a high end product and I don’t think that basic architecture is good enough at £51k plus.
The Mercedes voice assistant is a pain in the arse and not get useful too.

The list price is largely irrelevant in the current market. These cars are so accomplished that its just point and squirt. It boils down to the monthly deal you can negotiate and off you go. In a market where an RS4 starts at 64k for a bog standard car , its all about the brand and the monthlies.
No question its probably the quickest point to point car for that money and the least involving but if thats what the market demands. that's what sells.
