The fact that mine is silver is a slight pain in my side but you can’t have it all.
Funny, I always see silver as a proper colour for older Benzes, redolent of Silver Arrows, Moss/Jenks, early C126’s on wheeltrims and export zoll plates, etc.

My lottery winning, Singer-esque resto mod S124 would be silver, pre Sacco, blue plaid/half leather, 500e running gear and steelies under wheeltrims.

But anyone referring to all 4 x 4's as a "Jeep" puts me off.

Those of a certain age in Norn Iron call all 4x4s a jeep, presumably related to 300+k yanks stationed there during WW2 driving them and it leaving an impression.

That's also sitting on tarmac (NI version of an Englishman's gravel drive) and it is at a stand alone bungalow, which is a positive, if buying in the Province.

It doesn't actually look st. Although the convertible mondeo jokes would wear thin quickly. And I suspect you saw an XK with that front grafted on the result would not quite match expectation... That's the beauty of render, you can deal with proportions, not suffer with reality.

That convertible X-Type looks dire.

It's no Rover 75 coupé.

There are a few different Jaguar convertibles (ones which never made production, as well as those that did) in the Jaguar Heritage building at the British Motor Museum.
They also have the prototype XJ220 (so V12, 4WD), too.

I completely agree with the silver sentiment, but I think in comparison to other period colours it’s maybe a bit... boring? When I got mine it was on wheel trims which have been swapped for 15 holes and that improves things. The real visual appeal of it is inside, blue sportline Karo cloth. Mmmmmmmm. I guess it goes well with the exterior, so I can’t complain too much.

On the other hand, where’s my passport?

For a couple of weeks now I have been cringing rather shamefacedly because we tend to call our G-wagen a jeep. But what is the alternative? Call it a "SUV"? call it a "4x4"? call it "the G"? These are all worse, surely? I seem to recall that Car magazine, back in the day when it wasn't very colourful toilet paper, called the then-new Range Rover an upmarket jeep or some such.

Silver undoubtedly is classic Merc: in the late-, great-1980s I seem to recall it was also ever-so sophisticated.

No doubt we are all familiar with this site, home of the Pueblo s124? https://www.e-arrows.jp They do G-wagens as well. The Rodeo Grey 124 is pretty natty, though.

Silver s124 reupholstered in the blue plaid cloth from the early r129 would be nice. I would have it on the bolsters as well.

Pattern matched cloth. Properly done.

I see Chimaera in the rear wing profile.
Nonetheless not unattractive but...
...what does it look like with the roof up?

Sweeping statement time:
Most convertibles are good looking with the roof down.
Few are acceptable with the roof raised.

1988 Mercedes Benz 230e W124... £3495.

A sensible ad, and some lovely "evening sun" photographs lead me to think this would be a good 'un.
