Best smoker barges 1-5 large [Vol 17]
Discussion
Just my luck.
Having bought a Subaru H6 to ‘tide me over’ while the jury came to their conclusion regarding the W211’s failure to proceed, a *really* nice looking E39 T has come up.
I’ve wanted a well looked after E39 for as long as I can remember.
Has anyone on thread got any use for a 2004 Subaru Legacy Outback 3.0?
Won’t be more than a couple of grand!

A handsome old bus, only 34,000 miles and a fresh MOT, £3995.
I love the retro dashboard in these.

Assuming you can /work are willing to change, if you come in the Century (yes please - I think I speak for us all on that), SB123 comes in the 600 & I go in the 760 (as requested), I make that 4 v12’s - the Cambridge fuel sellers association will be in for a good day...
Erm, it might be 5 V12s as I'm planning on making an appearance in the still slightly broken moon mileage S600.At this rate we might have more functional V12s in the car park than the museum itself .
Is anybody planning on booking a ticket to view the museum? Not sure what timeslot to grab.

Duxford is too far for me this time.
Five V12’s would be a decent turn out!
It’s a long way for me too but I am still tempted - your Death Star is parked Chester way is it not? I’m a bit further east, the far side of Manchester, but it’s still a 6 hour round trip if the traffic behaves.Five V12’s would be a decent turn out!
ETA - I would definitely be up for a Northern meet.

I should make the effort really, would take the Vantage over 40k miles actually!
ETA; northern / mid or Wales meet. Cosford?

There's fk all else to do. I'm not sure how legal it all is, what with me living in a Tier 2 area (FFS). We will spend Saturday buffing up the motor (think we'll bring the G-wagen) then drive down late afternoon. Supper at the George of Stamford and then roll down to some cheap Travelodge within spitting distance of Duxford. Sunday we will spend at the museum and then head north on Sunday late-afternoon. I haven't been to Duxford since I was 5. There is a nice picture of my brother and me on the steps of the Concorde, I shall have to dig it out. Dad had a Capri 3.0 S back then. I just hope it isn't spoiled by dick splat Covid nazis.
Please do bring the G wagon, haven’t seen them much up close, apart from the incredibly ostentatious Mansory edition I sat in owned by the seller of my CL.Non-barge related again I'm afraid, but I collected the 986 Boxster yesterday from just outside Reading (Rindt Vehicle Design were the sellers, my car was a trade-in for one of their updated 912's, they were absolutely fantastic to deal with) and people asked for updates.
After 2.5 years in the X350, the drive home from Reading to Gloucester was a stark reminder of how cosseting barges can be, particularly with regards to noise. I spent the whole journey worrying about every slight creak or squeak (surely that is something failing?) until I left the motorway/dual carriageway for the Cirencester-Stroud stretch. After that, the car was a revelation. The engine really comes alive after 4k rpm. My normal barge-y driving style has me changing up way before then, so consciously keeping my foot in was difficult at first, but the noise it makes from 4.5k to 6.5k is so infectious (red line is 7k, but I struggled to let it run to that). It has such a confidence-inspiring handling balance I was chucking it into corners with some abandon very quickly. It is only the basic 2.7, but it doesn't feel like it lacks power, the steering (after the Jag) is an absolute revelation and the general feel is of a quite old-school mechanical device.Today, we went up to Caffeine and Machine (should definitely be a future barge meeting place) and an extended trip home (about 60 miles) and not only do I love this car, Mrs cam has declared it her favourite car ever apart from a 1934 Bugatti Type 59 an elderly chap once tried to woo her with. It was slightly over thread budget at £7k, but has had a pleasing amount of preventative maintenance done over the last 5 years. Early days as yet, but if this is the last ICE car I buy I don't think I'll be disappointed. Again, apologies for the non-barge pic from C&M today, there was a stunning Rolls Royce Dawn convertible but the pic I took of it has come out dreadfully, I thought this Pagoda would be most barge-like of the rest.
