I rather like that - looks like an AI generated car long before AI was a thing.

The BMW “IX” range seems to have completely passed me by until some longer journeys last week. The IX2 is about the size of a Touran and the looks are somewhat challenging when I think I grew up at the times of E9, E30 etc. Take the badges off and it could quite easily be something Korean or Chinese, which is where I suspect its main market is.

The 'i' at the start just denotes the fact that it's a pure EV- you can get the same old body style as an 'X2' including the M35i which is probably even more challenging thanks to the quad exhausts and M-badging, something that would normally denote a far more appealing car than a transverse 2.0 4-cylinder crossover...

Never seen one of these before

£70k RRP new, now £18k or less, a year later...
Rich Rebuilds on YouTube bought a 'dead' one for $10k and worked on bringing it back to life.
Why are they so cheap? Simply because the manufacturer is bankrupt or is there a catch a la Renault EV battery lease?
I seem to remember that there was a write up on these recently on one of the car websites, possibly Jalopnik? Essentially, the software that controls everything is hard-coded into the hardware, and this was written by Fisker. Now the company is bust, all the techy guys have left and you can't access any of the software.
One of the ads on AT says as much - it makes clear that not all of the functions in the car work, nor can it be resolved, nor will the seller assume any liability for anything, pretty much.
From an advert:
  • Please be advised that FISKER (GB) Ltd are in liquidation, this vehicle is sold without a warranty and there is no manufacturer support. In purchasing this vehicle, the buyer must acknowledge that they are aware of this and still wish to purchase the vehicle. ** ** Please check specification of this vehicle with us before purchase as certain features / specification do not operate. We have removed specification from this advert as we cannot guarantee the operation of this vehicles features. Any specification detailed on any advert for this vehicle is supplied by 3rd parties and we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the data supplied. **
So many red flags, run!
Yet they are all listed for between £20k and £29k !!! I would have thought they're worth about £10k max, take a punt for 4 years and see where you end up.
Probaby ripe for a conversion. Take any other crashed EV (Tesla 3) and put EVERYTHING into that Fisker Shell. You'd have to really want to though.

That 1-series has really let itself go. Eat less, move more y'fat git.

Sidenote, I assumed the "UKL platform" was something to do with it being used for the Mini, hence UK. TIL it actually stands for Untere Klass meaning "lower class" or bottom class... Not sure how marketing didn't step in and suggest a less emotive name for the platform!

I wasn't questioning what you posted. Marvel might have come to the same design completely separately to that truck in the video. I haven't watched that video yet, I'll watch it later tonight, is it related at all to the airport tow trucks that got adapted to the carrier in Aliens?

Inspired, not in an inspirational sense.

I doubt it's related, the mechanicals for an aircraft tug are intended for shifting very very heavy things at low speeds on a very flat surface, rather than general towing.

I suspect one of the drivers for using an aircraft tug in Aliens was the proximity of Heathrow (with an ageing fleet of tugs) to Shepperton Studios (where much of the live action of Aliens was filmed).

I own a Lexus.

I was shopping for a new Lexus last year (GX550) so spent time in Lexus dealers.

Had NEVER seen or heard of one of these ugly things before spotting one in the wild this week.
