And lets face it, that V8 roar, those stupid noisy tailpipes, the owner might think "wow, they sound so cool" but trust me, everyone you pass as you rocket away from the lights is thinking "cock".............
I'm a Cock. Long may it continue. You sound boring.
I love it when a meaty V8 pulls away from the lights.
I own a C63 new in 2018. It’s a great car, though interestingly when the lease is up in June 2021, I shall shed a tear. Would I buy another one? Sure but not straight away.
This new one? Ok you lose the V8 but I bet the performance is better than the V8.
My biggest frustration with the existing car is traction. 470bhp in the first two gears is nearly useless in other than near perfect conditions.
Our generation will mourn the loss of this magnificent twin turbo 4 litre V8 - I’m just glad I was able to own one before it was scratched.
Don’t mourn, if you feel that strongly buy one!

I'm sure the performance will be as impressive as it's complexity but sadly it will lose a huge portion of it's character.
Admittedly I was never massively into the C63 purely due to it's image but I'm a big AMG fan and the 6.2 V8 was and is something special. I'm fortunate enough to own one in a CLS so not as lairy as the C63.
Ironically, despite it's lack of kudos to us petrol fuelled types, I suspect it will still be popular. Many people who like cars but aren't techy about them will just like the latest model and tech so they'll still sell.
Whether people appreciated the noise or not, you couldn't knock that the 6.2 V8 sounded what it was. I suspect this new model will be programmed to pop and rumble but it'll be fakery.

Sorry to crop your post, but this has been my point in a whole host of threads on PH recently - I think a massive number of us on PH are no longer the target market for these vehicles anymore. Sadly.I used to work with a lad in his late 20's/early 30's who claimed to be a petrolhead. Big F1 fan, etc etc...yet was the biggest Tesla fanboy you could ever encounter. I think if Elon launched a dog poo with a battery in it, he'd have spaffed his pants with excitement and immediately placed a deposit. He had one of the first Model 3's in the UK, for example.
My point being that that generation of "petrolhead/car fan" just seem to have a completely different point of reference when it comes to cars. Almost in the same way that younger folks have no exposure to The Who/ACDC/Jimi think that anything on the radio with a guitar in it is 'rock' music.
Apologies for the thread resurrection, but this caught my eye https://www.team-bhp.com/news/germany-new-mercedes...
Seems it's not so popular after all....
