You can buy that big wing and attached it to your old GT-R. Great savings!
Yean because that would be exactly the same thing then, wouldn't it...
I'm sure he was deadly serious with that comment. "Sense of humour, aisle 3...."
Of course he wasn't serious, but it was a $hit 'joke' wasn't it? I'll call the doctors and ask for a sense of humour transplant so I can 'get' this sophisticated new humour. I wonder if this was a similarly engineered Porsche or Ferrari if the same comments would be made
I hardly laughed at it, but I'm not the one who felt the need to comment. What were you hoping to achieve? Educate the poster regarding their lack of 'sophistication'? Prevent them from ever daring to try and make a funny comment ever again? Or where you just being a dick for no reason?

ETA: Not calling you a dick - merely asking if that was what you were hoping to achieve.

You know what you are right. I have been (uncharacteristically) grumpy as of late, and my comment does make me seem like a bit of a dick. I will leave it up as a warning to others to think before they post, something I have taken time to ask others to do in the past, hypocrite that I am. Apologies to anyone affected by my ill temper, have a great weekend all, peace, gbn x

Some do and the advantage of it being road registered is insurance - you can drive it in the road car group on road tyres with valid insurance if you crash. I wouldn’t mind giving up some ultimate tyre performance in exchange for a financial safety blanket from time to time - for example when it is cold or wet. And if I want to run slicks, I can always trailer the car just like a race car.
Having said all that, while I do like this, at the new price you really have to like GTRs. I would probably just buy a Senna or buy a 458 GT3 or a Broadley T76 and live with it being not road legal plus a few road cars for the same money
Doesn't the vast majority of insurance specifically exclude damage on tracks? I would imagine any that doesn't is rather pricey, particularly for a full on track special like this.

It does make me wonder the percentage that would be driven regularly on a road, driven regularly on a track, or spend most of its time in collection and barely used. At this price is this even an investment car?

I know it's a prototype, I'm sure the driving performance will be exceptional and I'm not sure that I actually can think of any direct competitors off the top of my head, but even so...

...isn't £720k quite a lot for a (heavily) tuned GTR? Does anyone really want a GT3 car for the road?

Yeah, I know, typical PH comment moaning about price and I'm usually of the opinion that these sort of creations are actually reasonably priced for the amount of man hours, but I really can't get past that many hundreds of thousands for what it is.
I usually despise these types of posts on PH... but I find myself heavily agreeing with you on this one...

I don't see it as any more ridiculous, a strange argument I grant you, than any of the other special builds that pop up from time to time. Yes, you would have to be a huge fan to splash out that much, but isn't that the same for any manufacturer?

Yeah, I think that's absolutely the case, and it's fairly irrational and unfair for me to single this out. I guess I perosnally see myself using an Eagle or a Singer more, or one of Alfaholics creations.

In this case, I just struggle with the concept and the car. Does anyone want a GT3 car that's road legal, and at that price, do they want it over the Senna? Why a GTR, a car that (in my eyes) is synonymous with 4WD?

I guess everyone has their point where they say "actually, no, that's a bit much for me", and in my case, this is it. I guess I felt that so strongly I needed to post a load of moany PH cliches hehe

Its all fantasy garage stuff for me and likely to remain so, but that interpretation of the GTR, gutted to 1350kg, rwd, 650hp or so would definitely be in my fantasy garage, but yes, we are all different, even in our dream cars!!
