Were rapidly closing in on year zero when new cars will be electric... Any car company that comes in now with an electric car will do well, breeding and engineering ? I feel that its going to be a clean slate here.
If you can give a decent go of it then the market is going to be anyones... ICE consigned to history then they should be going fast for electric.
They're even called Genesis ffs If you can give a decent go of it then the market is going to be anyones... ICE consigned to history then they should be going fast for electric.
This.
Hyundai are a (if not the) world leader in EV technology. These cars will be visibly obsolete while on sale.
I didn't think of the Genesis name connection but what a fail. Can somebody at PH ask Hyundai's press office what they were thinking of?

The cars are very nice & a good steer I've driven a few in the states the G60 in particular impressed as a clear step on from the 3.8TT Genesis Coupe that sold well in the US, when you get in one they're easily on par with BMW.
Will they sell well probably not because the UK is very badge conscious BUT that means they'll be a great used buy, look at the current Genesis, if you want a luxury family motor & don't mind petrol they're a good buy used:

For those going on about EV versions they already have them as well as hybrids, they're coming to the UK market, at a guess I'm guessing they're more focused on the Australian market where Hyundai/Kia sell well & we're just a while we're making RHD we might as well see if we can sell some in the UK.
They already know roughly how well these will sell by looking at the sales numbers of the previous Genesis!

No mention of their success in the states and Far East Asia, they’re very popular all over the world but Europe and I imagine it’s a testament to the cars however us Brits European’s lift our noses up to these kind of cars and I imagine the lack of information of their sales is to prompt a Hyundai bashing thread.
EFA....Genesis sells pretty well in the US. The brand was hobbled here by only selling sedans/saloons for years while the entire market was focused on SUVs. The brand finally releases an SUV, the GV80. The GV80 is apparently a very competitive vehicle. The brand seems to have caught on with the older set here. My (ancient, Florida-dwelling) parents have a new G80 and seem to like it. Genesis cars are very common in South Florida.

Because their quality is at least as good as, if not higher than the aforementioned companies, and the styling is no worse than those three I'd argue better in some cases. It won't work for badge snobs, obviously.
Back to the cars. They look ok, but not pretty. Yes the side profile looks a bit horrible, like an Audi something or another. Front is a little bit Bentley (the badge shape helps). Shame there were no photos of the interiors.
Good luck to them, in this German-dominated upmarket class. It's nice to see something a bit different.
So, not one for the badge snobs (which dominate the U.K. market). Back to the cars. They look ok, but not pretty. Yes the side profile looks a bit horrible, like an Audi something or another. Front is a little bit Bentley (the badge shape helps). Shame there were no photos of the interiors.

On the upside the quality is “at least as good” and the styling “no worse”.
You then say they look “ok but not pretty” and the side profile is “a bit horrible”.
You don’t sound terribly convinced.

Whilst I am pessimistic I really hope they succeed with this.
Speaking for germany, i am also i bit pessimistic but would love to see the cars sell not only in tiny numbers here.Somehow, i really like the G80. It looks a bit odd, almost a bit boring yet interesting at the same time. I hope i can get a 3.8 V6 one in a few years.
I hope they do well enough to sell but lose money like a tart drops her knickers, I have a e350cdi only because I couldn't find anywhere to service an infiniti for reasonable money. I like a cruiser with all the toys the infiniti fitted the bill perfectly at a cheap price. If they can last the distance then in 3 -4 yrs one of these will be mine. I hate the way all the premium brands are banging the sporty drum. None are comfortable or smooth these days, I had a 64 Buick I would have rather driven that 400 mike's than any late BMW, etc

Are you in the UK? If you are all you had to do is take it to a Nissan dealership 80% of them will service an Infiniti, also depending what engine you were looking at most Indy's could service them with the exception being the Hybrid. When Infiniti were selling in the UK they'd collect from your home.

'Jesus he knows' its going to be tough sell over here. 'I cant dance' about this one I have to say. I hope they learn from Infiniti and 'Think Twice' about it (ish) and dont get 'In too Deep' or it could all fall like 'Domino' s
Sorry, i feel better now
Are you sure you're not in the land of confusion?Sorry, i feel better now
I wonder what mechanismn they'll have for a fly on a windshield.
Must go, supper's ready
Having seen various higher end Genesis being reviewed by Doug Demuro (when I could still watch him) and Hoovie I've always liked the idea of trying ones, but obviously the lack in this country put a stop to that, but there again I ran a Citroen C6 for 7 years, and that was a car that Citroen themselves never bothered to advertise over here as they knew they'd sell very few due to the UK badge snobbery situation (still miss it).
I had heard they were struggling in the USA and I'm sure I had read there was talk of them pulling out of that market, but a quick google shows new models being released over there (inluding the G80), one of which appears to be an EV (unless it was a PHEV).
