biggrin yes its probably going to be a disaster, but I perversely always wanted a k series, so it's my time for pain. Amazingly though I think it's one of only 200 made in yellow.
Least its had its HG done, the classic K series in this isnt it

Thanks for all the comments, I'll have to drop the price, I thought a tidy car with long MOT would be worth more. It seems no one wants a Vauxhall anymore.
Even the missus astra with 12 months mot is struggling to get more than £600

It has, and it is, but when it was done wasn't mentioned and the coolant was well under min on arrival ( thankfully I paid for a truck delivery)

I'll keep an eye on it over the next few weeks.

Plus side, it's had a new clutch, half exhaust, 4 tyres dated 2020, so someone has been spending on it.

Paint is very flat and mossy, and it needs a very good hoover to! I need to see if the rear hard top or sunroofs leak next.

K series, head gasket, low coolant. I am not the sort of person who leaps to conclusions but I wonder if it wasn't properly "fixed", the owner got sick of spending money on it and put it into the auction?

What car is this replacing?

Not replacing anything it just a useful kicking about car/ van.

If it needs a gasket, it needs a gasket it'll get done.

Looks great in yellow and being a 3 door. They're becoming quite cool I think.

Will look nice on a matching AA truck too.

That Freelander is a bold statement!

Though if it works, ie it's not FWD then with appropriate tyres it could be a fairly decent winter shed... at least you wouldn't lose it in the snow!

Shed selling advice needed. I'm selling my Signum and I've had no interest.
174k 1.9 diesel, it is for sale on here, with 10 months MOT for £1250. In these days of inflated car prices I thought it would have sold by now, have I overpriced it or is it that undesirable no one wants one biggrin
Advice gratefully received as it's taking up space on the drive now.
They were always a bit oddball, neither and estate nor a hatch and unless you know, then not something your average person is going to be actively seeking out. Quite a number of examples on Marketplace for well under £1000... £700 to £850 seems to be the ball park for fairly average examples. I think sadly it may be a combination of it being a bit quirky, older with a fairly complex CDTi engine and it being 3 weeks from Christmas.

Sadly it's that old adage of "It it isn't selling, it's too dear" perhaps?
More like 757 hasn't seen your advert yet
7 5 7 isn't interested unless it's pre-covered in 3 inches of accumulated road grime to protect the paintwork.
rofl
biggrin

if it was a petrol, I may of been interested, and yes dont bother washing, it if was.
Same here. I have an early 3.0CDTI Signum Elite that has just clawed an MOT for another year. But I really need a ULEZ car and my thoughts turn to buying a 2.0T petrol (Z20NET) which is the same engine used in Saabs, tuned to I think 180BHP, and swap the toys from mine into it. That engine is chain driven and from two examples these can take a lot of neglect.

Example 1: missus needed a ULEZ car, looked a 1 owner 93 Aero convertible. The couple were very proud of the fact it had never been serviced. "A light comes on, we put oil in, light goes out." They reckoned it had a service around the 70k mark, now on 116k. It was also misfiring under boost. We took a punt, I changed the oil immediately after getting it home and again a few weeks later, new plugs and coils, purrs like a kitten. A year later sill sweet.
Example 2: Mate and his missus are splitting so I know we've not serviced her Vector (150BHP model) convertible for 2 years and it's now on 220k. Still runs like a watch and makes no funny noises.

I like gumtree tbf, I think there's less chance of "best price boss" too.

Ha!

I knew I'd be in for stick with a petrol Freelander!

Keep it coming idm.

On the first drive , it drives very well tbh, though I have one clunk to investigate on the front when turning, and obviously keeping an eagle eye on that coolant level. I know it's been sat on sorn for a while so hopefully it could be as simple as a loose or perished hose.

Edited to add

Just checked after initial 3 mile drive 5oc here, coolant has stayed where I left it, top hose nice and warm, but bottom cold.
Also a few water droplets under the oil cap, but it is very damp and foggy here presently, and like I said only done 3 miles and stopped to check.

Is the propshaft still in situ?

Yep, it's there, looking at it, looks like the sway bar bush is perished.

Back tracking to the uprated headlight bulb musings of last week but any experience of the "Phillips Racing Vision GT200" bulbs? Quick Google would suggest they came out on top in a recent AutoExpress review so that's probably good enough for me, but as for longevity more so as I' one of those "lights always on" Volvo types....

And yes, I know V50's have notoriously crap headlights and no, cleaning them doesn't work as it's usually the reflectors that burn and kill the light output... but mine have been replaced and they are good, however compared to my van, they're not actually as potent as modern stuff so hence willing to give a £20 set of bulbs a go rather than going down the questionable LED retrofit route.

My X Trail has candles in the headlights, so I have just bought a set of Ring 150% brighter H4s.
I have them on my TVR, and all I can say is that they are way more than 150% brighter than normal bulbs.
Fitting them this afternoon if work schedules allow, and I will report back. The 200% ones my local car parts place have are vastly more expensive and a make I have never heard of.
