I much prefer officers in the real world rather than the alternative of watching footage and sending fines later, but in this case it seems like that would be a great option - send every single one of those knobheads a DWDCA and 6 points.

Then get a couple of speed-bumps put in either side of the ford as it levels out.
Agree - as simple as that, and it would stop pdq. Not a clue why not though.

TBH 6 points for what? They weren't speeding. How different it is to a large puddle? Just deeper/more water

It's like one of those car meets where cars hoon around in a car park and hundreds of people stand next to the cars. One day a ton of them are going to be seriously injured/killed when one car loses it.

Driving that does not show reasonable consideration for other persons using the road or pathways is the second of the two main elements of DWDCA

The Rufford one is bonkers, ploughing through water that deep at a rate of knots and many different unexpected things can happen, especially with small children standing very near. Knobs.

Large puddles are also open to consequences if you look at the Road Traffic Act 1988.

It states: “If a person drives a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or other public place without due care and attention, or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road or place, he is guilty of an offence.”

I don't know how it would work with a ford but splashing someone on purpose by going through a puddle is a £100 fixed penalty notice and three penalty points if caught. If it's then considered driving that “amounts to a clear act of incompetence, selfishness, impatience, and aggressiveness” then the maximum punishment is a £5,000 fine and points.

fking idiot! Slow down! Despite having comfortably stopped to avoid your feral children.

I had a similar experience the other day. Rounding a corner in town to turn left. Man in wheelchair halfway across road. Gently stopped a good 20ft from him and patiently waited only to receive a withering death stare from wife. Because clearly I was SPEEDING.
Standard speed for most around a housing estate before they get on to an open road and sit at 45-50.

It's not just about getting wet though- there is a real danger of injury to a vehicle occupant or spectator. If it was just about getting wet it would make no sense to prosecute- after all the audience are there expecting to get wet, and hoping to see someone hurt or property damaged. Provided of course it is not them/their property. It's a nasty spectacle all round.
Although I suppose it is not that different from the gawpers at slipways hoping to see someone come a cropper while trying to launch/recover a boat.

Even leaving aside the DWDCA portion (which is what I'd suggested points for), I'd argue that quite a few are over the 30mph limit by a decent margin.

Having a baying audience doesn't validate people driving like muppets, otherwise the various spannery you see at cruises would be exempt from punishment.

The Police could easily DWDCA a few of the people in that video I would think, and it would be deserved. All it takes is one of those cars breaking traction coming out the other side and they could end up in the crowd.

Looks as though the driver was trying to make a point (dramatically) of her hogging the lane. A bit OTT but frustration builds on UK roads with this sort of daily incompetence. So she's sent off to do a nice little educational course while he's banned for a year and picking litter for 100 hours. No wonder people lane hog really.
No bad thing that a MLM gets their collar felt but really, WTF was the SUV thinking - looked a bit WALTy so alarm bells should already be ringing - do i see Mission Motorsport livery?
Most drivers need to remember one simple fact: "You are not the police." (Except the ones who are actually Police Officers)

Therefore, it is not your job to enforce the law. Yes, MLMs are annoying and the buggers are everywhere, but it's not our job as drivers to attempt to 'punish' them. Just drive round them and pull back in. Maybe submit dashcam footage to the police of particularly irritating MLMs, but nothing more.
Ridiculously over the top penalty for getting frustrated behind a bad driver.
No-one came out of that clip looking particularly clever, hehe

(but people sitting in outside lanes unnecessarily really annoys me, so glad Cam car got done too)
