My neighbour had a brand new one of these imported in yellow, Lancia Delta 2 HPE HF 16v turbo (to replace a very eary Delta intergrale). Was a very interesting car. He also had an Alfa 33 16v 4x4 and a Tipo turbo. Very much an Italian hatch fan.

Wasn't it FWD though?
I think they were
The Dedra did come with 4wd - the 8v integrale engine/drivetrain - in early versions. It was however only available as a saloon so not valid in this thread!

I always fancied a Dedra, used to love Lancia. Ended up with an Mi16 instead. Maybe we need a rare saloons thread

I'd love one of these, compact body, looks cool and a T5, lovely inside too

I’m not big into Volvo, but wasn’t this just a concept? Didn’t we get the watered down T5 version instead? I remember the Car Cleaning Guru having one on YouTube.

My mistake with the photo, the production version didn't have the arch extensions. I wouldn't have called it watered down as such though, as a 217bhp T5 engine in a fairly small light car should be plenty

Another rare Volvo hatch is the V40 T5 cross country. An unusual if not appealing performance hatch with a 254bhp 2.5 5 cylinder and 4wd. Don't think very many were sold.

Me and a mate ran one as a track car with a Cyborg gear box (LSD) and Gaz coil overs, was a great little car

By the same token, Proton Satria GTI.

Headlamps look familiar...

I'm lazy so wasn't going to go through every page. Has the Nissan Cherry Europe with the Alfa Romeo been mentioned yet?

I think the concept might have been 400bhp and 4wd smile
Why they didn’t release that, I’m not sure. Maybe didn’t want to step on the Focus RS toes?

Edit. Found it here. https://www.evo.co.uk/volvo/c30/6846/volvo-c30-pol...

If they’d followed the pre-pandemic trajectory and entered shed territory I’d have got one. Waiting to see if the second hand price bubble pops before having a go.

The Alfa Arna is extremely rare now, but not at the time. Much maligned, but competitive in the AROC championship against suds, 33s, 75s etc

Not a very interesting car, but I saw a VW Polo Dune for the first time ever today despite the last one being made 16 years ago! I didn't even know they existed. It made me think of this thread - apparently only about 600 were ever sold according to "How Many Left". I don't know why VW bothered making it (or why anyone would have bought one!!)
