RE: 2023 BMW 3.0 CSL revealed
Discussion
I’ve owned several original 3.0CSLs, inc the Sean Connery car. BMW built 500 E9 CSLs in RHD, in late 1972 into early 1973.
So why only 50 of these new ones......
As for all of those stripes, way over done.
Look @ just how beautiful/ brutally elegant, the Original BAT CSL looks with just a single side stripe....

With a portfolio like this you have no chance of getting on the BMW design team.
Just looked up the kerb weight of my 2002 E46 330 Ci , well proportioned, well engineered, beautifully functional, terrific on a B road and just 1400 kg's. Does any of the guys in BMW's design office take any interest in cars or do they alternate between designing fridge-freezer's and drinking sustainable designer coffee?.
Agreed ! Not sure what the weight of my 2004 E46 330D is, but my old much missed E46 M3 was circa 1540kgs. As soon as I bought it, I removed the boat anchor rear seats and 1/4 cards, the weight difference was staggering. I also drove it for a few days without the aircraft carrier anchor passengers f seat, the difference was amazing !Just looked up the kerb weight of my 2002 E46 330 Ci , well proportioned, well engineered, beautifully functional, terrific on a B road and just 1400 kg's. I've held off from saying much all day, but I'm a Celeb is on, and I have to find something else to do. Anyhow... I love it. OK, it looks like those VW projects where the the interns get free rein for their projects, but... yeah... I quite like it. The mooted €750k price.... well it's halo, so that's justified right there.
Wasn't the last CSL the E46 M3 CSL? Yeah, a variation on an E46 theme rather than anything special.

BMW peaked with the E46 CSL. It’s utter perfection. This, an utter mess, like a bag of ideas thrown together. Nothing in their range remotely intrigues me anymore.
Yes, agreed, the E46 CSL is the greatest car ever made. Although EVO magazine thought it lacked steering feel and a Subaru was a better drivers car. So on second thought, I'd get a Subaru instead really. sege said:

Seriously Ludicrous that that magazine thought that the E46 M3 CSL lacked “steering feel “ My old 2003 E46 M3 had been fitted with a new CSL rack and omg the steering was utterly Superb !!!
