Alright, I'll bite. I have to admit when the original Audi TT came out with its humble mk4 Golf origins, I thought of it as very much style over substance but in retrospect it has aged well and is a style icon. I'm not a massive fan of the mk2 but it was a better car and the mk3 still looks pretty sharp to my eyes. I don't think that it has ever been a proper sports car but in the same vein as the Capri/Manta and all the hatchback/saloon based coupes that have followed over the years, has it ever pretended to be?,

Like those other cars, it offers style, decent practicality and refinement and VW Golf running costs, which if you don't need the practicality of a Golf/A3 makes it a very appealing package in my opinion. You could even get a diesel version. Sure, a GT86/BRZ is a better driver's car but it's less practical (not a hatchback) and the interior is a lot more basic. Again, a 718 Cayman probably drives better but less practical, higher running costs and purchase price and controversially, I think that I would probably take a TT RS over a 4-cylinder Cayman for that amazing powertrain. This one at 100k is just too much though!

But of the lesser versions, this or a Q3? I would take the TT every time and I can only really think of this or a MINI if you want something with everyday useability and low running costs that isn't a dull hatchback, saloon or crossover. It's a shame that they're cancelling it, as an electric TT would be a great alternative to all the dull electric crossovers out there.

One winter day back in 2016 was supposed to be a very special day for me. My missus said I could order myself a brand new Porsche.

Went to the dealer, he fired up the 4 pot and i instantly knew it wasn't for me, having just come from a 981 six pot. Day spoilt, I was confused at the engine change.

Also, with decent options it was to be £64,000

Bought the new Mk3 TTRS

The salesman drove through a tunnel on my road test, he knew what he was doing.

And the TTRS had a great spec for £52,000 compared to the boxster, aside from the reported mid 3 second 60mph dash.

Also a pretty LCD dash, quite a novelty back then.

The TT had it's disappointments, but that noise is addictive, it's like an angry growl that increases with revs. Tunnels were hilarious.

So I agreed with your comment, and also about the crazy near 100k price, that's ridiculous. But apparently they've all sold?

Honestly that's about as stunning as a TT has ever looked for me.. I always liked the MK1, the MK 2 fell into the styling trap that all cars of that era seemed to and the 3 fixed some of those wrongs

But I can't even start to think about justifying that money on a TT when it can buy a used R8 amongst other things.. Not a fan of the forced use of iconic though.. 'Final edition' or something would have probably been more suited.. oh, and being able to send more power to the rear wheels biggrin
