Not that pretty from this angle:

Dopey having a snooze behind the wheel isn't exactly selling it to me either.

Gorgeous but still won't top Fisker's v8 vantage.
or Henrik Fisker's Artega GT

I totally forgot the link between Aston Martin Vantage V8 (and more) and the Artega GT (very rare) and compact.

Also, the Alfa Romeo 8C I find bigger then I thought in the real world, saw a few and thought, wow, bigger then I thought = less interesting for me, just like the BMW Z8 is bigger then I thought, also on pictures almost perfect by looks alone, just like a 8C Alfa, but then in the real world, to big for me, would like those to crimp at least 10% (not the engines though, those I like big)

^This. Imho it looks dated, front/rear lights are ill-proportioned / too large. A consequence of trying to shoehorn a Mito-esque family resemblance into the design for a halo car effect?

This one‘s owner spent £20k trying to sort the suspension, and it’s still not right:

Nothing more than a cynical, marketing-led, parts bin lash-up that tarnished the brand, imho.
Shocking on such a car and another 20k on top of 200k + and it doesn't sort such a failing.

You're right NGK210, it's a ''lash up'', even if it is good looking and sounding.

I am lucky enough to have both an 8c and an SZ. All the disappointment about the driving imo is by journalists who need to be heard. Mine handles a lot better than my Vantage and better than my 575, and a 100 times better than my old ditchfinder 4200 but not as good as my 355 and similar to my mates 599. It is a gt car not a mid engined sports car and it doesn't handle like one. It handles like a big horsepower front engined rear drive car from the mid 2000s with little driver aids. Go drive a Giulia QF in race mode with the traction etc off and tell me that it doesn't scare you s....tless when you floor it out of a bend and the rear is twitching!
I think the 8c is the most beautiful car produced this millennium, but that is my opinion. I don't just glance back at it when I walk away, I stop and stare. The SZ on the other hand is all about the handling and the drive. It is something very very special. Divisory looks, but again I think it is so brutal and aggressive looking that it is gorgeous. A bit like the really hot sexy goth girl that you know you shouldn't fancy but just can't help yourself. Go buy an 8c, drive it hard and then come back and comment. And if you don't like it you can always sell it again (and likely make a profit).

Always good to hear from someone who actually has some knowledge on these rare beasts. Fabulous looking cars, both imo.

I am on my 5th Alfa, so I have the bug, pretty bad. For me, there is something not quite right about the looks of this car, I would take a Mazza coupe all day long over this. I much prefer the 4C, I even prefer my white GT, because I think the proportions are better.
However, I did like the Disco Volante custom version, and even then the wheels are too large.

Agreed. It is a fantastic design, I do think it is one of the best looking cars out there, but I think there are others which look as good and drive better, and are cheaper. £230k seems a lot, but then art can often be expensive.

I agree that it's a good-looking car but imo the V12Vantage runs it very close and is a far better price and probably a much better car.

Not sure about knowing someone offered below list. They were all sold before being made. My understanding is lots changed hands way above list. Lovely thing.
Ten years ago you could buy a coupe for less than £100k.

I think the V8/V12 Vantage is a better looking car to be honest. Not as rare, mind.

The writer must be a millennial or something as the SZ, although not pretty, is certainly not the ugliest car ever made and has a brutish charm that people of a certain generation will really appreciate.

I'd have one in a heartbeat, along with the Scighera GT concept
I'm with John when it comes to the SZ, and the SZ looks like an absolute dogs dinner to my eyes. This on the other hand is lovely to look at for me, and the Coupe even more so.
I think the SZ is a fantastic looking car. Not beautiful in the traditional sense, but brutally handsome, and it was truly original rather than being a pretty pastiche of a 30 year old forebear. Of all of them it’s the Alfa I’d want to own.

I agree Lee on both counts. I like the 8C, maybe not quite as much as the author but it's a pretty car.

Not a fan of the drop top in white. Reminds me of the Ferrari Califonia.

Which isnt a good look IMO.

Not a fan of the rear. Too Zagato. The rest of it is stunning. It is a wonder how Fiat manage to mess up the handling, much like the almost square 4c and the 124. Not good enough.
Interior and roof up looks are excellent too.
