AIUI a modern F1 car generate 2-3000kg of downforce at 150mph and weighs roughly 800kg, i.e. 2.5 - 3.75 times as much downforce as weight. This car by comparison manages just 1.9x.

This has a slightly better power to weight of 1,300 vs. 1,250 for an F1 car, but with that huge difference in downforce, surely this will be a long way from actual F1 car performance?

Given that this isn't road legal, and has been designed 'without motorsport rules holding development back', how is it still not as fast as an F1 car, that is so often described as being hobbled by all the regulations?
Active suspension to allow for a much better window of downforce usability probably has quite a lot of times to do with it.

Once you get to this level of performance, looks take a back seat IMO. I love it. Well done Newey and team. Can't wait to see YT vids of it screaming around the Ring/Spa/etc.

Nice trinket but pretty much pointless unless on a private trackday or parked up in Mayfair.
You may as well buy a couple of championship winning WEC & F1 racecars and look a whole lot less needy

Utterly pointless as a road car, as a thing? Not exactly something beautiful. I normally hate comments like this as we shod probably just appreciate it exists but it does look al a bit pointless. I'd be sending my theoretical millions to Gordon Murray's bank account for something that I cold actually use and enjoy.

Will this include Horner sending your wife or daughter dick pics and banning your dad from driving the car on a whim perhaps?

With that low seating position and seemingly high front wheel fenders... you'll need to know the track pretty intimately.

What would be faster around Silverstone do you reckon, this or a McMurtry Spéirling? Show your workings.

Tyres.

Top speed is higher than an F1 car so at 217mph downforce is likely to be higher, then add in fuel and the potential to carry to fat passengers it might be 300kg odd heavier.

As per the videos they're using active aero to get rid of downforce to protect the tyres.

It's downforce is also around 5 times more efficient in terms of drag than an F1 cars.

So it can't be driven on the road, it doesn't meet any race series regulation, you need the skills of Michael Schumacher to even get anywhere near its level of performance, other than looking good in a trophy garage and a bit of willy waving by the ultra rich, what's the point of it? It will just end up being last year's hypercar, sitting in a dusty corner unseen. Nevertheless I'm sure it is a wonderful piece of engineering.
I do agree with you, but I think if I was a Billionaire, I'd still enjoy driving it just to hear the engine sing to 15,000 rpm, whilst playing with it on track.

The ratio of £ / hr used for this toy is going to be very expensive indeed, as most are barely going to turn a wheel. But for those that do - what an experience!

I can see this getting written-off at the first pothole or speed bump and judging by the length it has the turning circle of a super tanker.

It's track use only ... as in race tracks, not cart tracks ....

So you can't drive it on the road, and it is way to expensive to risk driving it anywhere near its potential on the track ?

Expect to see lots of cars with double figure mileage passing thru the auctions houses in years to come. It's really just an over-engineered automotive folly....
There are over 3000 billionaires, for them writing this off on track is no more financially damaging than me or you dropping a sandwich.
All the wealthy people I have ever met who earned rather than inherited their wealth have always been quite careful with their money. Probably what made them wealthy in the first place

I've written this handy-dandy prospectus template for anyone wanting to sell automotive-trinkets to billionaires in 2024:

We are launching under this automotive-ish brand name from Britain/France/Germany

It will be powered by a NA/hybrid/jet engine

It will have 10/12/16/24 cylinders

The engine will rev to 10/12/15/infinity RPM

The engine will be made by Cosworth/Cosworth/Cosworth

The gearbox will be made by Riccardo/Xtrac/Graziano

The project will be lead by a celebrity designer/engineer/billionaire

The shell will be made of carbon/plutonium/kryptonite

It will cost 3mil/5mil/POA Euros

Adrian Newey drove his Valkyrie in to the Goodwood FoS this morning. Note the aerodynamic modifications he has made. I don’t know how he managed to cope with the potholes in the local roads!
