Lotus JPS colours on an M3 estate...... I quite like it!!
As for 850 hp ...... for some people it is just knowing that it can, is why they have it, even if rarely deployed.
If I lived in a city, with a single parking spot, and liked lugging large things around, and occasional blats on track, then this (or a standard M3 Estate) could be the best "do it all car out there"? Mahart just turn it up to 11.
As a side, does anyone know it the M3 estate is large enough to accomodate a set of racing slicks in the back with seats down, so you could drive to track whip off road tyres and chuck on some slicks, and probably be just about the fastest thing on track.... again a nice alternative to separate track toys, with trailers and tow cars!
If you have that kind of money, just rent a garage or park your other car elsewhere. As for 850 hp ...... for some people it is just knowing that it can, is why they have it, even if rarely deployed.

I like that - put some 270 or 300 km/h winter tyres on and get to the slopes very fast
Would want it without the gold accents though
Assuming you survived driving at that speed: when I drive at 120km/h on the motorway, people regularly pull out in front of me. Were I doing >twice that speed, I very much doubt I'd manage to avoid hitting them.Would want it without the gold accents though
Also, unless those slopes are in Germany, you're likely to end up in the clink.

I was around 22 when the first 3dr Cosworth came out and I was running a Sierra 2.8 XR4x4 with 150bhp.
To see a Sierra shoving out 204bhp was unbelievable at the time, especially for what it cost.
And yet when I bought a 3dr, it was more than fast enough, and yes there were no or few speed cameras and the density of traffic on the roads was less.
The parallels, despite the massive disparity between the Sierras and the M3 power outputs are apparent to me, and whilst I’m glad that we still have companies making insane machines like this rather than become just another hyper-Duracell powered white good, I can’t see how you would regularly deploy such power.
Or at least if you did, the law of diminishing returns would apply and you would get to use all that extra power for less time.
I remember when you could sit in the outside lane at 100mph on the motorway for ages(plus almost everyone seemed to be doing around 90mph anyway). Plus you'd also get opportunities to max your car right out should you wish as well. You have very little chance of doing that nowadays in comparison as you say. Even in our Vauxhall Viva, he'd sit a steady 85 - must have been about 4000rpm!

I don't really understand the need for tuning the already ballistic M3, particularly in estate form anyway which tends to be bought for carrying dogs, kids and for runs to the dump rather than track days. If you haven't already tried a stock M3, try one. Plus they look better in standard OEM spec (imo), the warranty remains intact and depreciation will be far less.
I've done a couple of trackdays in my Touring, it's great! Edited by Zenzz on Tuesday 26th November 23:29
I also carry the dog in the boot, and throw my bikes in there.
Probably one of the best cars I've owned, absolutely love it.

Not sure what we need to get to for it to be too much ?
100 mph in this, in like 5 and a bit seconds from standstill ?
I think that may be a little too much for me personally, zero to ban territory in 5 seconds, its just at odds with the environment its used in, the scale of the performance is way bigger than the roads we have to use it on.
I think probably m3's with around 1,200hp factory then hypercars hitting around 3000hp is probably where people will not be interested in more power - I think the "M3 with as much hp as a Veyron" marketing etc will carry them on slightly past it100 mph in this, in like 5 and a bit seconds from standstill ?

You don't have to drive like a knob with kids/dogs on board you know that right?
Plus how do all those school run Teslas manage?
Except that we know that like a Tesla, or any car with straight line speed, any time there is a bit of straight road as much power as can be deployed will be deployed. It’s an immutable law of nature when drivers of this type of car are concerned. If it pops and bangs too, even better. I doubt these are bought for their handling. Your vehicle must turn heads. Any attention is good attention. The horrid irony for me I really like the look of this. Plus how do all those school run Teslas manage?
I look forward to a 1200bhp version, quad turbo’s / quad supercharged.

From what I could understand on the Manhart website, the car gets a three-year, 100,000 km 'guaranty', which has extensive, confusing language and references to German law. I found the parts below interesting, particularly since motoring use is excluded. Maybe local laws apply when your Manhart blows up or just keep it in the garage.
b) Excluded from the guarantee shall be:
aa) Damage due to operating errors, accident, force majeure and external influence (e.g. rodent bites, water ingress, frost damage) as well as illegal tunings by the Customer and intentionally caused damage.
bb) Damage caused by motoring use of the vehicle.

855bhp?! No child nor dog wants to be carted around in such machinery. Utterly pointless. Stupidity springs to mind.
The fact it triggers people like you substantially adds to its appeal.smilo996 said:
855bhp and likely pretty reliable. Manhard. Truly an autobahn muncher and
I also looks the part, unlike the offerings from other tooners and some of Manhart's other creations.
The Reinhardts will be swapping their Audi 100 for one of these, now they are older and time is theirs.
I liked your comments, especially re the Reinhardts. It also reminded me of how safe the Audi 100 was back in the day particularly after a drunken driver drove head on into my parents of which my father had to take evasive action from, ending up in a ditch. Little did I know in that moment as a child (back at home in my bed) my parents ended up in hospital one night. If circumstances had been worse., that would of been that! The oncoming car certainly had less than 855bhp, and probably less the 200bhp!I also looks the part, unlike the offerings from other tooners and some of Manhart's other creations.

To add, me and my brothers had a babysitter, so had not been left alone! My parents simply went for a meal.

Still too hideous for consideration. However…
How’s about applying the upgrades to a B3 Touring?
This. Every time I see a BMW M4 Touring, I think of Alpina and its B3. It's so much more attractive (to my eyes). How’s about applying the upgrades to a B3 Touring?
Lotus JPS Alpina B3 by Manhart?

850hp is just mind blowing in something that can carry the dog and four passengers in relative comfort over long distances.
For me; remove the stickers, the Halfords special bits and the big alloys, replace with the 18inch stock alloys and badge it as a 318…
