I misread it and assumed it was on at over 10k. That's expensive I thought.
Then I read on. Jesus.

From what I remember, they never dipped under about £80k.

I have no opinion on him but I do find it funny Musk was the left’s Messiah 2-3 years ago and now they all crying biglaugh
In August 2024 he shared a post of twitter to his 100+ million followers with a faked headline saying the UK government was going to build detainment camps in the Falkland islands and send rioters there.

He tweeted on 4 August that civil war is "inevitable" in the UK, helping to further stoke riots that were endangering life and property.

In 2023 he shared a tweet with an antisemitic conspiracy theory, and accused the ADL (an organisation set up to combat antisemitism) of "anti-white racism"

Being a prick is independent of political leanings. There are nice guys and aholes across the political spectrum. Regardless of who he votes for or supports, Musk is a prick.

You also can add to the list that he's a stock market manipulator!

I've driven a couple. They are like an Elise but not as good. Because it weighs more than twice as much.

When they first came out there was an attraction in all that power with the silence but you can get that with a BYD today. Yesterday I drove the Lotus Emeya, which I prefer to the Taycan, but the trend for cars to get heavier - ignoring the powerplant - is what is really making them feel less connected.

I really like the Concept 1. I think there is scope for something with a sub 150 mile range where weight was the priority. FWIW by VX220 barely made 200 miles. If you are charging at home, every night you could happily have a 100 mile range.

Bit of an exaggeration! The S2 Elise (whose chassis this shares) was around 800kg wet, give or take bout 10kg depending on spec and how much fuel there is; the Tesla was 1235kg. In fact the V6 Exige which also shares the tub is nearly as heavy as the Tesla, which implies that the Tesla's... dubious handling isn't purely a result of the weight!

There's a battery swap available in the US which will get that down to 1,055kg with a bit less range or 1,110kg with the same range.

I have to agree
No matter how good or how cheap I could never buy a Tesla because of Musk and his recent performances.

Well, you have to go back a bit further on why the people on the Left started their hate for Musk and his companies and products. It began in the middle of Trump's first term in office. Musk said he was willing to work with Trump and his administration concerning electric vehicles. This upset the Left and they told Musk he could not and should not work with Trump at all. Musk responded that as the CEO of a company, it was his responsibility to work with whoever was the sitting president for the good of the company and the shareholders.

This didn't sit well and the personal attacks began and articles in the media against Musk and Tesla started to appear. These attacks and misinformation grew so much that Musk finally had enough to the point of leaving the Democratic party.

Yeah that’s definitely what happened hehe

What actually happened is Musk was tired of regulations in California so moved to Texas, had his brain absolutely melted by conspiracy nutcases on Twitter, then sold out fully to get the power to influence the government to benefit himself financially by endorsing Trump.

A 14 yr old Tesla….to put it into context, It would have been on sale the same time as the iPhone 5. Can you imagine how long the batteries last now?[/footnote]
This is a good point, the batteries didn't have a huge range even when it was new what with it being a very early model. Now, I can only assume it's even less unless it's had them replaced.

£145k though, it's a big no from me!

These weren't particularly brilliant when new and neither was the Tesla part of the engineering.

The only thing they're really notable for is as an early-ish attempt at an EV that sold in reasonable numbers, and as the first product of a company that actually succeeded on the back of something significantly different.

Interesting curio but not interesting enough to justify the $$$$$ asked.

Why is it always left or right? Musk is an absolute knob
Because the only reason anyone ever thinks or has an opinion about him is because of politics else he would be irrelevant.

As an observer who couldn’t care less it is quite comical.
You seem to care enough to make a point of posting to the thread just to try and push some buttons though, no?

Nothing I’ve wrote there is pushing anyone buttons.

If you think it does then I hate to inform you but I reckon Musk is living rent free in your head.

“now they all crying biggrin” ?

Either commit to the bit, or don’t, but don’t troll the thread and seek to wind people up and then row back, trying to play the “guess you must just take offence easily” card lmao.

ps. You patently don’t “hate to inform” me, either, nor are you being anything other than disingenuous. It’s not edgy, it’s just dull.

Try expressing your genuinely held feelings - whichever way you lean politically - and stand behind them.
