RE: Cadillac CTS | Shed of the Week
Discussion
I quite like that. Stick a private plate on it and no one beyond the beards on here will know what it is and how old it is and it does stand out from the ocean of boring euro-boxes.
Interior seems a bit suspect. Think this one is before the Americans discovered soft feel plastics and finally learnt how to do interiors. Not sure I could live with that as no one does hard scratchy plastics better than our colonial cousins.
Nice left field choice all the same.

No worse than many a mid range saloon to look at and at £2k it's different enough to get people wondering what it is, should be easy enough to run for a couple of years. Interior is very underwhelming. Oh and it's black so not for me thanks.
It's blue though. Squints...
So it is, just!

Just re-read the entire thread ( sad, isn’t it but tonight’s TV is awful, or involves re-runs.) There are 2 distinct, fairly evenly matched groups: 1) It’s awful, especially the interior .2) Bit different/ biggish engine/ reasonable bodywork and all for 2k. I vote for the latter view, as not being a GM hater ,though having said that., I won’t be rushing out to buy it though mileage appears genuine.Another reason for not buying: imaginary pub (bore) discussion: ‘Did you know Lester’s got a Cadillac.’?’ ‘Hell, no, I thought it was a Vectra’

The following CTS was way better, well styled and far better resolved plus it had a fast V version and an estate in V and standard versions.I have to say, in some ways, I like this car. Yes, it's not going to win any beauty contests (the smattering wood on the gear knob and steering wheel is particularly out of place), but anyone looking for something different on a budget could do worse than consider this.
Having driven a few cars like this in America in the past, I am actually of the opinion that a V6 plus auto box combination can be very enjoyable. This particular car might not be about performance (like the V) but then, how likely are you to get that for shed money without it becoming a brave pill?

If ever an automotive brand has lost its way, it has to be Cadillac. They used to advertise as “the Standard of the World” and produce some really awesome luxury cars. Pre-war they had V12 and V16 models. Post-war the iconic Eldorado peaking with those 1959 fins. It has been down hill all the way since the end of the 1960s. I can’t see a vanity dabble at the back end of the F1 grid doing much to help.
Here’s today’s fayre. Find your icon indeed!
Indeed. IIRC, the '49 Caddy scared R-R into upping its game and developing it's first V8, for fear they were losing the right to the 'Best car in the world' claim. Here’s today’s fayre. Find your icon indeed!
A long drop from that to this.

Blame buyers. The Cadillac saloons have been losing sales to SUVs for years but overall, their sales are up and it's the profitable SUVs leading the way.A long drop from that to this.
Ultimately, you can make the greatest saloon in history and still people won't buy it.
This is where we are headed, sadly.
