Not a fan of the pink, but I think in the blue it looks stunning.

ETA I’m not sure what they will call this in Italy, as tipo 00 is pasta flour, I guess it’ll be like the Toyota MR2 in France.

That's a bloody good point actually. Rolls/Bentley/Jaguar - all at the same price point, which would you choose?
On price point, Jaguar won’t be competing against RR or Bentley.

Jaguar have stated they are moving up to the £100k entry pp, but RR and Bentley are currently double to triple that. BMW 7 series is £100-150k

I like it!
A colour for Barbie, and Ken.
Nice nod to the days when Jaguar was part of BL with the Quartic steering wheel.
The “fan base” will be grumbling into their 10am Worthington at the Spoons, but the world has changed since their day.

Mostly for the better.

Yeah, we know. That's what McGovern said before all this hoo-ha started. Problem is that so far it is all hype, and as someone has already pointed out - this is a lower-tier brand being pitched into a higher tier market. Even if the product is exceptional the wishful-thinking attempt to overwrite the brand's image with a load of off-the-shelf slogans and tropes isn't going to change the minds of the folk with the money.

As has been said already - this is JLR's Phaeton.

May have missed it but what is the storage panel on the side wing all about? What is it inside that it is revealing?

In reality, if the proportions match this prototype the size of the car generally, plus the long bonnet, plus the small windows, it might make for a very awkward driving experience. As much as they want to label it a piece of art, it needs to work as a car.

This reminds me of an XJ-S with the long bonnet and side profile.

I see logic of the niche that they have chosen non-suv, four seats & very expensive and outrageous. A second car which will take the kids. A bigger 911.

Finally, there are few car launches which have generated as much noise. That is also a win.

Perhaps the front will become more svelte?

I actually quite like it, obviously it will be watered down for production.

As to “Why will Jaguar be making SUVs”, sadly it is because that’s what people actually buy in the real world. And the team at JLR are actually pretty good at SUVs. A Jaguar (jaGUar?) SUV has the advantage over a Range Rover in that it doesn’t have to hit the same off road performance benchmarks, so it can be a better road car.

I was watching a vid involving Carl Hartley recently. Not for long because he is a bit annoying. He hit the nail on the head for me “Who ever lusted after an EV?”. Hit the nail on the head.

It’s a shame JLR cannot get their st together and compete properly with the Germans. I owned an XFR… great car. Build quality could have been better but a great car nonetheless.

The fact that most dont like it, means i should smile

and i do smile well done jag thumbup

People who get upset by a font!? rofl get a grip..

jag want to distance themselves from their past audience and find people who dare to be different as they’re the ones with the money.

Just hoping it’ll be fully autonomous as i have no real interest in driving it beyond the first couple of fun sprints.

….much design potential in being able to push the wheels right out to the corners. Just look at the BMW i3 for example.
Agree on this from a packaging pov but the market Jag is aiming for is about presence and providing a real sense or drama and luxury. Most manufacturers will lengthen the wheel to base of windscreen distance to convey a premium look.

Look the the front overhang though - pretty short, almost pushed to the corner perhaps?

Putting the wheels out to each corner on a car this size would look ridiculous.

Why is there a plank of wood down the middle of the cabin?
This whole design concept smacks of self indulgence, and damn the customer base who have to buy it.

IMO, it lacks any sense of movement, pace, grace or agility. It's a lump that sits too heavily in its surroundings. Just like the rock that those characters arranged themselves around in the recent advert. An abandoned rock. That's what it is.

I'm another who likes it. I'm sure they've some sort of marketing reason for binning all their other cars off for two years before being able to sell this (presumably it involves not losing a shedload of cash on every one built) but it does seem daft.

Plus, concept cars don't always end up too watered down into production but you've got to hope they don't offer too much of a billy basic version of it-this with poverty spec small wheels is going to look ridiculous.

Wonder if they're storing all the batteries up front of if it's just lazy legacy packaging?

It’s a concept, not a car.

Their car, if they survive long enough to build one, may or may not look similar. Right now though they don’t make cars, which is rather a problem.

I watched the media launch and its useful. He pretty much acknowledged the ad and said, we got your attention, didn't we. And yes, they did. So that sorts that one out. It wasn't an ad to sell a car.

Also explains the copy nothing ethos. To post on here that, essentially, it looks like a car, is a bit silly.

Design- I like it. The miami pink will divide straight away, but I like the side profile and love the rear 3/4 profile. Front, ok.

1000hp!

I assume the massive bonnet will become the boot?

I know it's a prototype, but it looks too big for uk roads, the 23 inch wheels with rubber bands will be terrible on uk roads and the butterfly doors impractical. So I wonder how watered down it will become.

I like it. I'm not the target market, and likely it won't even make my car buying shortlist, but I think it is a refreshing change from the bland mainstream offerings from the major players.

It will be interesting how close it is to any sort of production, in terms of timeline and real-world design compromises.

It does look a lot like an AI design for a YouTube Synthwave video though, as others have already commented, or something from GTA Vice City.

Looks a bit basic, like ‘my first art deco coupe’, but if it becomes a cut-price Rolls Spectre then cool.
It’ll be priced at the same price point as a Rolls Royce AFAIK.
Well the they are buggered then, because they will not sell any, you cannot reimagine yourself from failing to sell £50k cars to succeeding to sell £400k+ cars, Maserati can't sell the new EV GT in any meaningful numbers but they are cheap by comparison at £200k.

If they were going to try and take on the Taycan that would have been a stretch but RR? They are smoking some very strong stuff.
