Not indicating

Many people seem to think pedestrians don’t deserve a signal. Especially in car parks. ‘Oh, I’m in a car park, I don’t need to signal’.
Yeah i've found that. happening me last night actually. i stood and waited as there was a car coming when i was crossing a car park then he decided to take a left just before me.
I live adjacent to 2 mini-roundabouts and I hate this so much. The amount of people who don't signal to turn left is infuriating.
On another note, my driving instructor told me that if your going straight on a roundabout, you don't need to indicate? One of the things me and my dad always disagree on.

The only thing worse than not indicating is indicating wrong.
That is why ,in most cases, i only do one indication, esp where there are well defined lanes, and i am in one of lanes that allows me to take an exit, and that is a left turn as i pass the entrance before the one i wish to exit. if i want to take the first exit i will indicate left on approach, as this gives those on my exit route notice that i will noe be going past themIf there could be any misinterpretation i may do a RH turn, but it is vary rare.
On the other side of the coin, if i am appraoching a roundabout if i want to take the first exit i will indiucate left on approach, as this gives those on my exit route notice that i will not be going past them
i watch the front wheels of the vehicle until he commits, irrespective of what indications he is or isnt doing, i have seen RH turn indicating numpties do a left exit, LH indications and carry on round.RH turn signal fron a left exit only lane and carryo on round, and try not to be parallel with any car going round I would rather spend a few seconds double checking than second guessing there actions. The basic rule is give way to traffic on the roundabout, trouble is many people try and get in front of those already on, ESP when they are indication right,
Yet you will get so called 'expert' driving Gods that rounadbout lane marking are advisory, yst would be the first to bleat if ,say on a straight pice of road a car suddenly, without arning crosses the hashes to go from L2 to L1

On entry, no, but as you pass the exit prior to yours you indicate left, not before the mid-point of the prior exit.Deep Thought said:

I always use the indicators when appropriate so people know both my BMWs have that optional extra!

Letting people out of junctions catches them unawares too.

It's also amusing catching people unawares in our old Civic we use for a runaround. Drive that properly and use the pedal on the right occasionally people don't seem entirely sure what to do...

Manoeuvre, signal, seems to be commonplace these days, with the guilty parties thinking an indicator is not just a flashing a bulb, it's absolute confirmation of their right of way.
edited for accuracy , removed the word mirror , these morons drive with them folded sometimes .Does anyone indicate when there are no cars in front or behind or anywhere around? It's like the question of if a falling tree makes a noise in the forest if no-one is around to hear it ......... does an indicator truly indicate if no-one is watching?
All joking aside, it drives me batty when people don't indicate. Also, those halfwits driving along beside you in dual lanes who need to turn off at a junction and proceed to take a wide berth that would make even the Captain of the QE2 raise his eyebrow, thereby forcing you over into oncoming traffic.

On entry, no, but as you pass the exit prior to yours you indicate left, not before the mid-point of the prior exit.Turning left / first exit: I don't need to indicate as I'm only on the roundabout for a short time and not really getting in anyone's way.
Going straight / second exit: I don't need to indicate as no-one else does and I vaguely recall my driving instructor saying something about that.
Turning right / third exit: I don't need to indicate as by that point I'm well established on the roundabout and have right of way anyway.

It seems to be a common misconception that when going straight on at a roundabout you don't need to indicate at any time. Indeed, a lot of people seem to think the following applies at roundabouts:
Turning left / first exit: I don't need to indicate as I'm thick
Going straight / second exit: I don't need to indicate as I'm a dick
Turning right / third exit: I don't need to indicate as I'm a prick.
I've put in bold the more realistic reasons.Turning left / first exit: I don't need to indicate as I'm thick
Going straight / second exit: I don't need to indicate as I'm a dick
Turning right / third exit: I don't need to indicate as I'm a prick.
