RE: All-new Morgan Supersport revealed
Discussion
It looks like one of those really expensive, slightly overdone resto mods that get announced periodically for about £500k each. All of the ingredients are there but it somehow looks a bit off with the classic lines melded with LED headlights and more modern stuff underneath which somehow spoils it.

So really it’s a bargain at £100k?

Yep not sure why auto only when the b58 is available with a manual box in other cars - maybe it’s a space thing for pedal box, clutch master cylinder etc?
From watching the Harry's Garage video, it sounds like BMW will only supply the engines to them with the autobox attached.Overall it gives the impression of looking quite good in my opinion, but some bits look a bit questionable and the lower front does not look good at all!
I'm really surprised they would try to create something retro and arty and then keep that gear lever, absolutely terrible decision as it must have been easy to do that better and more in keeping with the overall design.

Same as the Ineos, cost of designing and testing a new shifter would be significant. I saw the revelation in the live video, had to get used to the new lines, but then I thought, wow, really well done.
better chassis, better streamlining, better insert window way, you can take windows with you in the now compact trunk, higher top speed with I think less background noise because of better streamlining.
Price for a handmade car still very good, yes this looks like a modern Morgan, but still very recognizable.
Hopefully they will also come with a nice manual transmission in the near future...

I'm not really into old cars and classics, but I have always been a huge Morgan, I just like the way they do things (or don't do them) and have been a fan of the classic shape and how it evolved. I'm also a big fan of the Aero range, certainly the the no boss-eyed facelift cars.
However, I think this looks an absolute dog's dinner. In isolation there are some nice detailing that brings this shape up-to-date, but combined it's a real mess of a design. Some of the interior design is pretty bad too, that generic steering is pretty unpleasant and just doesn't suit the car, looks cheap and nasty. Then there is the gear knob. I know this comes as part of the engine gearbox combo from BMW, but at over £100k, it's just not good enough, completely wrong for this car and a bespoke item should have been part of the design (same thing with Ineos).
As for the gearbox itself, this car really should come as a manual, with the option of an auto. There are no issues with offering an auto as there will be a fair few drivers that wouldn't want a manual for a number of reasons. But with more and more everyday cars becoming inert digital appliances (not necessarily a bad thing for non PH drivers and the mass market), if there was ever a car that deserved a manual, it's a bespoke, lightweight, retro British sports car.
Not that any of the above matters as as much as I'd love a new Morgan, I can nowhere near afford one

Don’t think so.

In fairness, when you're old(which will mostly be the buying demographic for these), your left leg/knee won't work as well as it used to, so an automatic gearbox will be welcome for the majority in this I'd imagine.
I do get exactly what you're saying though.

Still need to use your left leg though - for braking! As for the car, it's probably good, but t makes my eyes bleed. As ugly as an ugly thing.
