Well, I posted the first comment on this thread while drinking my morning coffee at 06:27. Since then I've been at work because, you know, work. I've just checked back and the whole thread has taken a dark turn, hasn't it?
Welcome to PH in 2025! Reflecting the state of society in ways you didnt think could be linked to cars for over 20 years...WhyOne said:

...All I'm interested in is engines, and this has a lovely V12, so I'm in for sure....
For someone so interested in engines, I am surprised that the fact that this has a W12 passed you buy!
Granted my accuracy wasn't great on this occasion though...

Might be cheaper to buy a pair at £10k each… one for spares
Top man maths there sir! Must be some breakers out there too, could work for someone who is good with cars and spanners.Makes me wonder what will happen to the current ones when they are 20 years old , and even more complex.
Well this thread took a turn lol.
Lee, those that have questioned your comments aren't worth the effort. They're the sort of people who object to planning permission even though it doesn't affect them and they can't even see the build.
Anyhooo back to the Benters.................... I saw one very recently in the CO-OP carpark looking very sad and low at the back. Was there quite a while before disappearing.
It's a huge amount of car for the money but would you be able to sleep at night.

Love the contributions to this thread, especially Jack's post-crystal meth soliloqy. I chorale.
Anyway, here is my friend's former 2013 Conti GT next to my old Italian wreck, on our summer holiday with the families. Amazing car to be in, fast, made a great noise and quite good looking in the metal.

Hiwever, the Maser has been way more reliable. In fact, friend sold the Bentley after it did that pipe thing (after various other things went wrong) and the engine had to come out. Bentley sent him lots of beautifully curated videos of them removing the engine and repairing the tiny fault, thus justifying the frankly hilarious labour bill. This was a car with FSH and that had supposedly been pampered.
I'd like a cheap GTC (the droptop) for smoking about in during summer. But I'm not stupid enough to buy one. And that's from someone who runs an Audi SQ7, Maserati GranSport and 1969 427ci quarter mile spec Camaro.

I did let myself get a bit too sucked into it all really to be fair, and I much preferred the days before electric turned up to be honest. It was all a lot easier on here back then I reckon.

I want it purely for this...CO2: 410g/km.
Greta's head would be rolling off at the thought of this I'd imagine.
I can't believe how much car/engine you get for £10k with this to be honest. Mega.
A young woman is living rent free in your head man. Pathetic.

Playing the wounded martyr doesn't suit you. I'd accept why people have had a go at you, reflect a little.

£10k is cheap but you need to sell a lot of weed to pay for the first service and a matt black wrap
People used to go on about the footballer connection...these days it is the angry man with a tribal face tattoo connection. That said, a tastefully coloured one, sans wrap, in original condition, can be considered gentlemanly.

This is a thread about a 12 cylinder Bentley on the home page of PistonHeads?
I've always liked these since I first saw one, probably 20 years ago.
I never expected prices would fall to this level that would make one reasonably affordable, but you'd have to be prepared to bin it in the event of a major issue - and most issues probably are major!
I'd love to try one, but I'm not nearly brave enough!
On the topic of Mathewsons, I'm sure Paul bought one 2 or 3 years ago and ran it for a little while. I think he even sold it for a bit more than it cost. It must have been a great experience.

I bought one just before lock down. Always lusted after that badge, shape, performance. The worst purchase I ever made. Ran it for 2 years and cost thick end of £12k in issues and £8k in depreciation. Door and wing had to come off to reset the position of the headlight bulb in the holder as it failed the MOT.
