Well this thread took a turn lol.

Lee, those that have questioned your comments aren't worth the effort. They're the sort of people who object to planning permission even though it doesn't affect them and they can't even see the build.
Cheers James. beer

I did let myself get a bit too sucked into it all really to be fair, and I much preferred the days before electric turned up to be honest. It was all a lot easier on here back then I reckon.
Mate, the reason it was easier "before electric" is because people like you didn't start pointless debates on EV threads! You are on every single one of them, annoying people. You don't like EVs? Stay away from discussions on them and let others who do like them speak to each other without wading in every, single time.

Playing the wounded martyr doesn't suit you. I'd accept why people have had a go at you, reflect a little.
Eh?!

This is a thread about a 12 cylinder Bentley on the home page of PistonHeads?
Very good spot....and who first introduced EV's into the discussion?
I know! banghead

It is all a waste of time and energy though really, because EVs rule now on this website to be fair. It wasn't always like that on here though, and in the old days it was all about driving/owning an interesting car with a nice engine, whereas now you're only accepted if you've got a green stripe on your numberplate in comparison. frown

I do still like this place don't get me wrong, but it has definitely gone downhill for me though for sure.

I wouldn't say that. There are plenty of EV lovers for sure. But there are still plenty of true Pistonheads too. I wouldn't let them bother you.

I've always liked the Conti. A friend's father had one when they were new and we had an impromtu post peage race somewhere in Normandy between his son's Audi TT 3.2, my Monaro VXR and the Conti - I backed off at about 120 with the Conti romping off into the distance and the Audi dropping back in my mirrors.

I've occasionally thought about getting one over the years but I just don't like the odds. The logic of a £10k shed does actually make a kind of sense but I know I wouldn't give up on it and would end up spending far too much money.

Whilst I'm sure you are right that things have changed here, there are plenty of threads where EV's, rightly, don't get a mention.

I suspect that this would have been another had 'someone' not lobbed in the EV hand-granade!!!

This whole recurring 'EV's are spoiling everything' winge of yours seems to be something of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I do have a bad habit of going on about EVs to be fair, and that doesn't help as you say.

Well, I may be mad but even I'm not crazy enough to buy a 20 year old GT Conti (to get us back on topic! hehe).
But you are mad enough to run an Alfa Romeo biglaugh
Touché. Fortunately, the Quadrifoglio has been trouble-free for two years so far (and has three years left on the extended warranty).

*peers closely* Did you take the Mazzer while Lady Flashman drove the kids in the SQ8?!

I really like them but have no need for one and, although I could probably afford to, I'd have to approach it with probably the idea of tossing it in the bin if it borked spectacularly and there are many other ways I'd rather waste £10-£20K than that unfortunately.

I think they're a lovely looking thing inside and out and would love one though but, as with probably many others, when I get myself a retirement 'carriage clock' it will probably be something like a 911 or similar as it's 'more sensible' (well that and a 911 has been my dream car for almost 40 years, poster on the bedroom wall, etc).

Oh yeah, that's what they all say but we all know we're just a few dodgy political donations away from the thought police at your door asking "Are you Gretacansuckmyballz69 on Pistonheads? Is this your car? Why don't you own a Tesla, as recommended by Chancellor Trump?" and before you know it you're shuffling into a big "shower room" in leg chains along with all the other people who didn't blindly parrot Saint Greta's gospel or did abnormal things like eating steak or celebrating the Sabbath on a Saturday instead of a Sunday or living in caravans instead of houses or shacking up with a person of the same sex...

Thin end of the wedge, I tell you. Thin end.

I remember first seeing one of these at a kids horse event, driving across the field. It was in pale blue and I thought how good it looked, especially in that colour. I also thought they must be mental or minted, or both to be driving it across a field!

I've casually wondered from time to time if I'd want one, one day.... and reading this thread has made me think, no bloody way! I'm a terrible rescuer of cars, always wanting to fix every last imperfection, which in this case and considering some of the repair bills, I'd be bankrupt before a year was up!

Greta's head would be rolling off at the thought of this I'd imagine. hehe

I can't believe how much car/engine you get for £10k with this to be honest. Mega.
There is a much bigger picture cerb4.5lee. There is a serious problem. Trivialising it with puerile personal comments is juvenile.
