Out & about recently I have noticed a lot of cars with badges in the wrong place.

Most numerous seem to be F10 saloons with the badge above the right hand rear light, not further in where it is meant to be.

An R56 Mini with the ONE D badge on the wrong side of the boot.

An Audi A6 with the badge on both sides of the tailgate.

A BMW 730d with the badge at a jaunty angle.

These cars are correctly badged, but in odd locations.

Shoddy bodyshop?

i have an f40 m135i which has M badges on it. I consider it an M lite. the M badge was on there from factory, and it's in the official name of the car, so, i'm ok with them being on there.

I know it's not a proper M car.

There are other owners in the 135 group that are actively removing the BMW mirror projectors with the M logo. Sticking M performance stickers on the rear spoiler lip, etc, etc.

That's not cool, it's not a proper M car, stop wasting your money on garnish which doesn't suit the dish.

What fresh hell is this?

Take a relatively handsome recent BMW & add the lookalikey ugly grille from the new models,
‘Because it look like a new one innit’

No, it really doesn’t!

Ah yes, the 'Meteor' grilles as they're listed on eBay. Funny enough I've also only seen them fitted to an F10 5-Series in the real world.

Are there actually any holes in that grille?

I saw a Tesla on the M5 that had been painted/wrapped in silver and re-badged as SpaceX.

Im all in favour of reverse badging however i was referring more to just 'wrong' badging such as the 911 turbo badge on the back of a passat tdi or maybe a V8 badge on a corsa.
Could it be that the Passat owner also has a 911 turbo and wanted to advertise the fact? Some people do in fact have more than one car.

Weird way to do it. Most folk use an Owners club window sticker as their ‘my other car is a Porsche’ willy waving tactic.

Yes I have done it too.

I doubt anyone has done that, ever.

I hope he has a Passat badge on his 911 in that case.

Except the 325i Sport never got one on the front originally either.

It’s so endemic with BMW’s now I reckon that 99% of people just don’t care or notice.

The 325i Sport is a great car, arguably as worthy of an M badge as the M535i E28 but that’s still no excuse.

Would be sorely tempted to de-badge a genuine M car if I had one incase someone assumed I was the sort of tosser who would badge up a 520d.

If you are even remotely interested in cars a real M car stands out.

No badge required.
My second car at 18 years old was an e30 316 (1800 carburettor engine) I put a 'twin tailpipe' ANSA backbox on it and stuck a 325i badge in place of the 316 boxedin

I just cruised everywhere to keep up the scam laugh
