You are both wrong, that sirrocco is fantastic
Would such a connoisseur of fine taste as you Sir, explain to us plebs how such an automobile is fantastic?Who said it was tasteful?
James Dean you pompous arse, kind Sir, what what what, jolly spiffing and all that. Do I need to support my opinion for you to accept it what what what, jolly spiffing and all that? As I dont think that I need to, very sorry old chap and bean.
But in case ones pomposity hinders ones ability to communicate I shall spell it out clearly for the kind Sir, what what what.
The car grabs attention and stands out from the bland-mobiles which otherwise inhabit our roads. Clearly alot of thought, effort and attention to detail has gone it creating this unusual machine.

First, you're a judge of taste because clearly Koolchris and me is wrong because we don't like it. I don't have a problem with other 'proper' ratrods as posted on this same page. Second, it's fantastic because it doesn't look like everything else on the road? Of course a lot of work went into it, but that doesn't make it fantastic, in my eyes.Mr Gear said:

No I've never understood this either. I've always been of the mentality to make whatever I drive look as nice as possible, i.e keep it clean, touch up any little bodywork issues and modify it subtly so it stands out but in a good way.
It's like washing yourself in horse poo every morning and wearing a pair of 30 year old trousers.

You can say "I don't like it" and you'd be 100% correct.
But if you say "it's st" you're 100% wrong.
Done right its quite cool but generally it gets over applied off a tick list,
Rusty bonnet
Roof Rack with selection of Jumble sale crap
Whitewalls
Stickers
Chequered roof
etc, etc
It needs to be subtle, it needs to look un-contrived to work, difficult to pull off.
I saw one at a local car show, unrestored, 1930's saloon, faded paint, home re-upholstered drivers seat, Heath Robinson modifications, "Modern" tape player and slight rust, it was the genuine article of Rat, the holy grail of Ratdom and I guess the owner didnt have a clue about "Rat", really wish I had taken a photo as it made the other examples look over restored, too perfect and formal wheras this old thing looked like it had lived and had the scars to prove, living history.
I think this is what drew me to Star Wars, specifically the Millenium Falcon, I loved the slight grubbiness, the scorch marks, the evidence of battle which made it all seem so real as opposed to the shiny chrome ships in a lot of sci-fi, I liked how it was always needing running repairs and you werent sure whether it would go, yet it was still the fastest thing out there.

what a pile of st.
Give it a rest. Just because you don't like something doesn't make it st! From your profile it says you have a Z4 and a mk4 golf - so a hideous Bangle design an the blandest golf on the planet.what a pile of st.

An awful lot of work has gone into creating the look of the car as there is a lot more to it than what you can see in that picture, some of the details and parts fitted are particularly rare/unusual. Granted not everyone likes the owners creations (he has quite a wild Rat/motorsport theme Polo and a couple of corrados to) but do you really think he gives a fk what people who drive bog standard cars think?

But each to their own.
So if some total retards chose to drive around in these mobile piles of crap its their choice, good luck to them.
You do have to wonder sometimes what would make someone waste any time/effort/money on this sort of junk though.

I think it's wrong when done to a car that is too modern. A rat car needs to be old.
Wrong
Right
This post sums up my thought on rat look, it looks great on certain car but massively st on others. I saw a Fiesta driving round my home town a while ago with red steel wheels and white-walled tyres FFS!Wrong
Right

i dont understand why those that dont like it cant just state their opinion and be done with it. There is no need to call people retards just because they chose to modify their car in a certain way or indeed where items of clothin. Shirley that is just pure ignorance?
Shirly it's just classic Piston Heads/Forum behaviour to be overly critical and offensive if you don't like or don't understand something.Remember tt is far easier for people to critisise than it is compliment!
