Yep the Saab went pop after a little fettling i seem to remember.

I echo the comments others that it was great until it followed its stable mate Max Power.

The staff challenges were always a good read such as the trip to the south of France and Hot hatches for under a grand, some would say a forerunner to the Top Gear Challenges.

If it was still going and in that format I would still buy it!
I was one of those freaks that every month bought

Max Power
Fast Car
Revs
Redline

I've still got all of them as well, really should have a clear out!
I don't suppose you also collect Classic Motor Monthly as well do you?

Im looking for issue 260 / November 2010.

Well it was worth a try getmecoat
Sadly not, nowadays the only mag I get on subscription is Evo, the others I buy odd issues of.

Why not just phone them up and order a back issue? They only printed it 4 months ago so it's unlikely to be sold out.

Hi there,
I might be a bit late with this post but might as well give it a bash! Hello,
I have been trying to track down Revs mag copies for ages! I am looking for 1 in particular: its got a white Peugeot 205 on the front cover and it's called Santa Pug. Im afraid i don't have the issue number or date of publication, must have been between 1998 and 2005?
I own the car in question and am looking for all the info on it i can get hold of so that it can be restored to it's former glory.
If any one could help I'd be most appreciative and would of course offer funds for the copy.
In the meantime i will approach the magazine publishers who were mentioned at the beginning of this thread.
Thanks,
Frank.

I was at that in my GTIR....they were great, great days!

I was picked to have a few shots taken for that day and off the back of it Revs called me and asked to do a feature on my car...I was over the moon and ended up having a 5 page feature on my little pulsar.

That rings a bell with me...was it on the cover doing a burnout with no bonnet on? I remember going to the pod for ultimate street car in the late 90s in my clio williams and in fellas camped up next to us had this cracking looking pug with throttle bodies that sounded awesome and went rather well.

Not Issue 9 then - that's a turbo one

Like Fast Car it was ok and then one day I bought it and thought I had bought the right magazine, like has been said it went all Max Power, free Seatbelt pad and all that st, other thuff that put me off Revs and its ilk,

Pictures of teenage skanks with their tits out
Barried cars
Swearing all the time, "fking Sweet" and words like "Banging"
Letters from imbeciles laughing about killing peoples pets and crashing
Stuff about "ICE" and cars with a more powerful amplifier than engine

I didnt mind all that in Max Power, just dont buy it but when all my favourites went over to being soft core sub "loaded" gutter journalism that was it, not expecting the Telegraph here.

I didnt stop reading them, used to just have a flick through in WHsmith, cant do that now, no longer welcome, apparently asking for a chair and a brew is considered a cheeky.

Was Revs the one that had a series of essentially "how to drive" articles written by someone in the know?

Pretty basic stuff like looking for telegraph poles to predict the road pattern you couldn't see & watching out for curbs converging indicating a tightening arduous etc?

If so that mag was priceless to me, really handy stuff to a teenage lad who had no idea why his XR2 went sideways when he got off the throttle mid bend.

It's funny seeing this Revs mag thread and that Fast Car has cropped up aswell, my work takes me into all the main supermarkets and I tend to have a browse of the car mags when I'm in store and only yesterday I clocked that Fast Car was still going and I thought to myself, how? who on earth is reading it? how has it survived when far better mags of that ilk such as Revs and Max Power have disapeared...although as a younger chap i purchesed just about all of them month in and month out fast car was always the poor relation and certainly the last one I'd look for.

I may well have, the headline does ring a bell.
I'm not back in the UK until the end of March but if you're still stuck then pop another post on this thread and I'll take a look for you.

I can only heap on the misery - I HAD that issue, believe it to be December '98 (was working with a Cossie nut in west London at the time so talked cars and read the mags on our breaks), sadly got cleared out along with all the Autocars, Autosports, F1 Racings and other mags when I emigrated in 2007. Sorry!

I remember it, was a bit more classy than Max Power in the sense the cars were usually a higher standard and there was a little less flesh!

Somewhere I still have the key ring that came with the first or second edition.

I only bought it once in 98 or so.

I remember the front cover; an E30 convertible in white....huge rear spoiler and Testarossa style side rakes. The chap was an Indian chap called Suraj IIRC.

Anyone know what ever happened to that car?

Was looking at that the other day. Always enjoyed reading when they got the group test cars and put them on the dyno - some interesting results! No wonder the Laguna V6s were so fast compared to the Vectra/Mondeos

Seeing as I was leafing through some old mags

( if you click the pages, they should open as legible copies )

Does anyone know if old articles exist online? I know the mag got canned a few years ago, but the "trace your old car" thread prompted me to have a bit of a search around for my old MG Metro Turbo.

I took part in a Mk2 photoshoot/feature for aforementioned mag, probably in 97 or thereabouts, hence the thought about Revs.
What was the reg of your Metro by the way?
