Soon to be bought by SSangyong no doubt. Although to be honest Bristol would be a very good brand to export to China. Massive, slightly awkwardly styled GTs designed to cruise in comfort rather than set times at the Ring.

That is sad. I hope the company survives it.

Why dont we give some more foreign aid out so they can afford to buy our long established historic companies.

Sad sad news, no doubt another one of our most prestigous brands which will end up being bought by an overseas company!

Oh dear god.

Please stay British. Please.

Anyone want in? Let's buy it for a quid and turn it into a profitable company.

Oh no. That's dreadful news. Bristol and Morgan are the last bastions of the tradition of hand-built British car industry.

How many cars did they make and sell each year?
Not a common car to ever see.

I don't believe they have ever given out numbers, preferring to keep it undercover.

So does that mean not many then!? Shame to see a UK car manufacture go under, but if you don't sell many cars, you don't make much money and then the inevitable happens.

The ones for sale in the PH classifieds are 1977, 1954, 1975. All locked away in private collections since then, or is PH not the place to sell them?

I must confess, I've only ever seen one Bristol on the road. I was on the M3 and saw this awful car and thought "dear god, what *is* that abomination?". Then as I got closer, I thought "oh no, I think it's a Bristol. Please tell me it isn't". And as I passed it I knew it was. I feel terrible for admitting this as I really, really like Bristols. A Fighter T is on my profile as a Fantasy Car.
