Has it really? I wasn’t looking 997.2’s that much when looking for mine, but I don’t remember seeing it before.

I found it....

Original Pics from Original ad with different wheels on the car

Current Turbo wheels look a bit rubbish if you ask Me
I was going to say that was my only criticism, but as it seemed to be wearing before, nothing a good set of BBS CH-R's wouldn't sort, they look so good on a 997.

The blue car is on FB marketplace too. He still has the other wheels if you prefer them

Edit- it was last night, but I don’t see the ad now. Someone had specifically asked about wheels

Looking for a bit of advice. I’m going to put my 2010 997.2 C2 up for sale shortly, but deciding which is the best platform. I’ve had a decent “offer” from Motorway but I’d rather it go direct to someone who used it rather than through the trade. I thought Autotrader would have the widest audience but eBay has also been suggested. Would ideally like the fewest chancers and spam! Has anyone had any experience selling privately recently? Be grateful for any info

Good Luck with that

I think the more you open yourself up to Joe Public the more scammers and idiots will join in.

I think the specialist sites are the likes of this one or 911uk. The PH classifieds section is good. But I think 911uk takes weeks or months to get a for sale ad live.

Thanks, I think you’re right, but I guess it depends on how quickly I want to sell it compared with how much hassle you want to deal with!

I’ve got it up on the for sale forum on 911uk but not had much interest. It’s a manual so not many of them around, hopefully it will stand out on PH or where ever I end up listing it.

13 997s have gone up on 911uk in the last month alone, most trade, and there are nearly 70 997.2s on PH which may explain poor response.

I can't see yours on 911 uk though...

On PH it looks like only 3 manual coupes after 2010, so for anyone after a 997.2 manual coupe it is indeed very slim pickings.

Stick it on Collecting Cars, that's where i bought my 2010 997.2 C2 manual.

Costs something like £150 for their photos but it's a timed auction so you know the car is sold by a given date, it's a realistic appraisal of value (given it's literally what someone is willing to pay) and the commission is paid by the buyer, not you.

PDK or manual?
I think you're going to struggle with that budget to tick all your boxes, so might be worth considering what you'd compromise on.
Yes, I have realised that, thanks.
So PDK and will compromise on mileage provided the history checks out.
One thing I have wondered....there are a number of very high mileage C4S's around - is that bad territory?
I bought a 1988 Carrera with 222K on the clock and had it retro'd by 911Retroworks and that engine was sweet but for a 997?
And budget wise I can stretch a few grand more no issues.

Thanks,
Kips

Having sold a Giulia and a stopgap Golf R before buying my 997 last year…

Yes - Facebook is a…nightmare, but amongst the literally dozens of traders and best price messages this is where I actually sold the R. It’s an ordeal though and I was actually worried about getting the car robbed at one point from a couple of suspicious enquiries and pulled the ad for a few days (demanding my address despite refusing their offers and them offering it to buy it unconditionally, very very suspect).

Autotrader only got a handful of enquiries for the R, but they were genuine and considered, and this is how I sold
The Giulia. Very expensive however.

eBay has changed its system and wouldn’t let me list without updating hundreds of details so didn’t bother

Pistonheads, unfortunately generated very little, but I did personally check it when buying my own 997, so worth a shot.

For a car like the 997 I’d avoid the main marketplace and stick it into the 997 owners groups, the real buyers are already in there, and onto autotrader.

Love the car IMI A, but I don't think the 'Porsche' logo works. A simple black 'turbo' badge would look better on mint.

Have to agree, that’s a stunning car in every way but that engine cover sign shouts way too loud! Looks completely out of place with the quality of the rest of the car. TAKE IT OFF, TAKE IT OFF, TAKE IT OFF…. biggrin

Looks better without decal school boy error this amazing Singer DLS was the inspiration. As an aside best mod to date on my 997 have been the TracTive Touring Line coilovers.

steve@ttsuspension.co.uk

At 3500 GBP ish. Cheaper than OEM B4 and B6 from OPC and you'll not look back. 5000 miles completed already just about to pass 106,000 miles.

I've also tried Bilstein B16 Damptronics both Comfort and ClubSport. No comparison.

With the Bilstein both OEM and aftermarket with a corner and a bump combined or series of bumps the suspension at the front of a 911 bounces for a moment even in 991, 992 and then when front end settles settles you get on the power.

Non of the above unwanted characteristics with TracTive you snake over bumps.

Air-cooled, 944, 968, GT3, Turbo, C2S, C4S , GTS 997, 991, and 992 definitely worth a look if your shock absorbers shot or you're a track driver wanting faster lap times. Lots of competitors using TracTive in PCGB Club Championship. Should really do the odd Sprint here and there with Minty but never get the time tbh.

Nice job IMI A. Will look into these when my GTS is due a refresh. That’s one epic car you’ve built yourself and nice that with those miles you can actually enjoy driving it vs ones locked in a garage never seeing any decent tarmac time.

FWIW I don’t think the decals even work on the DLS.

Mine went at 20,000 miles back in the day. Still love the 997 but wouldn’t buy one that hasn’t been to Hartech nowadays.
How much is the work at Hartech?
