Gen 2 manuals are always so thin on the ground. The blue is still as good as it currently gets. There is a very well specced Gen 1 at more money than the Blue Gen 2 which I haven't seen any chatter on.

The set of people who only want a low miles X51 and PCCB 997.1 C2S must be pretty small though. Agree it’s a great spec but it’s too small a pond to be fishing in.

Spend half the money and get a more standard spec 997.1 C2S, surely? Yes the first car is better but can’t be twice the money better.

Saw on a facebook group, a 2007 gen 1 tiptronic C2S with 21k from new (one owner), went for £37,752k + £5436 in commission (£43,188 total)!!! eek

Is it just me or is that mental?

That's punchy for a gen 1.
Especially when lots of other makes from that period are softening in values

Even the advert description cant be right. Still on original tyres and brake discs and pads laugh

I'm struggling to believe it could still be original front tyres they would surely have failed an MOT due to cracking etc?

The tyres will certainly need changing smile but you can do 21k on them if you are gentle / do a lot of motorway stuff. And our C4s discs and pads lasted 40k (but the inner faces were very rusty).

PS it's my wife's car so don't shoot me for pottering...

It been 19 years since I got my 997 and it is still going strong . One new clutch, upgrade to Porsche classic PCM, lots of tires.

Of course it is not hugely quick but modern standards but the rattle of the Mezger is still fun,the agriculturally heavy clutch surprises those who drive it for the first time, but it remains a very engaging car. Can be a bit tricky on a wet track though, and at absolutely Vmax it lifts alarmingly.

That’s awesome. Lovely motor. I’m surprised it lifts at V Max as when I took my Gen1 C2S coupe to the Nurburgring I hit and indicated 186mph on the autobahn and it felt rock solid with none of the GT3 Aero that your car has!

This one is still for sale. Emailed them last week asking for some details but after their first response not heard anything back banghead
Would've loved a Gen 2 Manual S but that one was just too punchy price-wise, and there aren't many on the market.

Settled on a .1, bore checked completely clear. Love it

Recently purchased a 997 gen 1.5 turbo manual from Autostore and they have just sold my 991.2 GTS my experience has been completely faultless Jonathan has gone the extra mile taking the GTS for service for me at Porsche Cambridge as it became due while up for sale and has then taken it back to porsche Cambridge for a water pump replacement that was flagged on the service inspection
On inspecting the turbo I asked for a ramped inspection engine rev range check etc which they were happy to accommodate and replaced the air con rads which was the only fault I could find absolutely top drawer I couldn’t have asked for more 100%

Had a passenger ride in a 997.2 the other day, it's like a more raw and nimble 991 (I have a 991.2). Sensational. The owner got it for a song!

The 997.2 and 991.1 are overlapping in price, only a matter of time before 991.2 and 997 overlap as well.
(I am talking "like for like", not 997GTS vs 991 base!)

The 997.1 is a bit rawer again. 1 and 2 both great cars.

Agreed - but I went for the 997.2 as I needed an auto and the PDK box is street ahead of the tiptronic in the 997.1

Also - I wanted to avoid the potential 'engine issues' that plague a lot of the earlier 997's.

I've just put this over on 911 UK... But thought some here may find it interesting.

I've "lashed up" a Esp32 board with a 2.1" round display (off the shelf) with a canbus / twai transceiver, and managed to get the male connector for the sports chrono harness to make my own "Sports Chrono" wart replacement!

And some videos of it in action... I had a 6 hour round trip over the past couple of days and so far, it's not died or blown up so I'll count that as a success. I'm thinking the summer heat may be the next test but overall pretty chuffed with how it's turned out.

I hope you like - and purists, have no fear, no wires have been cut, the old sports chrono gauge is sat safely in my office so everything can go back to how it was.

I'm thinking I may try and tap into the sports chrono gauge and read the canbus signals from there and then transmit the same codes so that the car thinks the sports chrono is still present, then the PCM would still register... But all a maybe at this stage wink

I don't understand any of this, but love the end result.
Respect.
