Seems a slip up with paperwork relating to mobile phone repeaters in new cars

Yes, went into dealers today to sort out paperwork for new vehicle handover next week to be told there was a stop sale in force from this morning for all models. Wasn’t clear to the dealer what the issue is or how long it may last. frown

I was suppose to collect a new GT3 on Saturday. Already had my phone call to say it’s not happening due to this ruling. Might be fixed soon apparently so fingers crossed.

So even if your car is in the dealers you can’t have it? Supposed to be picking mine up on the 28th!!!

Email from OPC today which I hoped was going to say something along the lines of '....ready for collection...' but instead says:

The reason for the email is to give you advance warning of a stop sale campaign which effects delivery of your new Porsche...which includes all makes and models in the Porsche range. It is in reference to the mobile booster in the centre console and only effects cars in the UK. Porsche are working on a fix in the short term and hopefully it won’t impact the delivery date by too much.
A stop sale campaign means we are unable to register and deliver the car to you. I trust you understand that this is out of our control .... please rest assured Porsche Cars GB Ltd are working hard to resolve this as quickly as possible. ....We are currently being advised of a delay of around 2 weeks, but hoping it will be much quicker.

Looks like new hardware/software needed rather than a paperwork issue, messy!

"In October last year, Ofcom decided two types of repeater should no longer needed a licence to be used legally.

The two categories are:

static mobile phone repeaters for indoor use; and
low gain mobile phone repeaters for use in vehicles.
Following consultation, Ofcom has now put together the regulations that will allow people to use these devices, provided they meet the required technical standards and conditions of use.

Repeaters available today are unlikely to meet these requirements, so their unlicensed installation and use will still be illegal"

Presumably this affects all new cars and not just Porsche?

Meant to be picking mine up on Saturday and taking it straight to detailers for ppf and ceramic coating. That’s looking doubtful now...

I’m supposed to be picking up my GT3 Touring. However, I am more concerned that Porsche say this is ‘effecting delivery’. I need to get out more smile

They can’t spell “affects” either.

I can......if I was as good at my job as they are at theirs....I would not be looking at Porsche’s.
Dacia’s possibly.....but definitely not Porsche’s.

My GT3 finishes build this week, fingers crossed this is sorted by the time my car is ready for delivery.

As per the poster above if you are without a car because of this I would think your OPC would get you a loan car either from their own demo or Porshe GB’s fleet.

So what is the status of repeaters in cars already sold ?

Are these illegal and will they be subject to a re-call ??

If so, which cars will be affected ???

It would be nice to know ....

Any car already registered is unaffected, apparently.

The legislation changed on April 12th - I would say any cars registered prior to this day would be ok. Bearing in mind the Porsche sale stop was issued late on 13th there may be a few cars currently sitting in the 'grey zone'!?
