991.2 GT3 RS batch '2' GPF?
Discussion
This GPF question is fascinating isn’t it! I am checking this forum every hour to see if someone posted and has information. With first deliveries of the second batch by end of June / July, we shall finally know.
I have to say I am quite excited about it and to have had the opportunity to “fine tune” the batch 1 991.2 GT3 RS with some additional items and a WP + Magnesium wheels.
I am not too worried about the power (although I read somewhere that the 4.0 might be stretched in terms of Bhp/ L) as I cannot see how a new batch could be heavier (GPF) and less powerful. This would remove the performance advantage you’d expect from the RS vs. GT3 albeit some will argue the aerodynamics and feel are a big part of the equation when comparing both cars. But here we go: speculating!
I wonder if any of the forum contributors have experienced the R8 V10 with GPF vs. the previous one. I tried to read about it and to see if there were any videos. But it seems quite vague from what I gathered. Could it be an indication of what to expect for our forthcoming cars?

The R8 example is no use for comparisons. It's a 5.2 litre V10 that has gone from 604bhp to 614bhp, so it's now making 118bhp/litre with a GPF.
The flat six 4.0 litre GT3 RS was making 520bhp pre-GPF, which is 130bhp/litre. Maintaining the same figure with a GPF and not increasing the price of the car in the process would be a challenge I suspect. This is why I'm really keen to know the specs of the second batch cars.

Had the call yesterday I got an allocation
Specced today and asked the big questions
Has wtlp been approved YES last week
Gpf filter fitted Yes
ITB fitted NO only fitted on speedster
Regarding carbon parts my SE informs me
You can’t fit carbon vents to the front wings
As they are bonded to the wings
So fitting the rear vents in carbon may look a bit naff

Apart from the likely issue’s with the engine management system I don’t think there’s going to be a new industry springing up for GPF removal if this is correct which I read on another thread about DPF’s
-DPFs are fitted to meet European emissions regulations and it would be an offence (under the Road vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations) to use a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the emissions standards it was designed to meet.
-Removing a DPF could also invalidate any insurance cover because it makes the vehicle illegal for road use.
Don’t know is the second one is correct but that’s a pretty difficult one to get round......
DPF or GPF removal and it won't pass the MOT either.-DPFs are fitted to meet European emissions regulations and it would be an offence (under the Road vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations) to use a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the emissions standards it was designed to meet.

Thanks for spec update. Disappointed re lack of ITB’s, one dared to hope!

You missed one of the questions - 520bhp?
If indeed no ITBs i can't see them retaining the full 520PS...It depends on what extensive engine internal changes they've made..Many congrats Martin on securing an RS..I was hoping to add some Carbon bits to mine but the only Carbon bits my OPC are able to supply are the side air intakes at a cost of £2300 inc VAT..I agree it'll look naff unless the other bits are also changed to Carbon.

Indeed. 130bhp/litre without the GPF is high for a road car. I'd love to know what Porsche have done to match that, or how close they've managed to get, for this batch...Spyder75 said:

Thanks John I couldn’t believe those front vents were bonded make sense why no one removes to PPF Many congrats Martin on securing an RS..I was hoping to add some Carbon bits to mine but the only Carbon bits my OPC are able to supply are the side air intakes at a cost of £2300 inc VAT..I agree it'll look naff unless the other bits are also changed to Carbon.
