Agreed. The 4WD cars are much closer to a C4S with a power kit whereas the RWD car was impossible to replicate through options (it was the only wide body RWD 997).
GT2 and GT3RS were also rwd and wide body.

I’ll soon be in a position to turn my plans for a do-it-all Porsche into reality and I keep coming back to the 997 GTS.

The centrelocks never seem to get a mention in any of these videos/discussions, presumably because it’s a non-issue? I worry that as a daily, maybe with winter tyres, the need for a breaker bar or expensive torque converter and tyre changes at OPCs would just become a pain.

As an aside, any thoughts on this one? Interesting colour, manual, from a reputable dealer, but it’s been around for ages. Aerokit less desirable on these? Price/mileage? Apologies if it’s already been mentioned.

I don't really get why having tyres changed at Porsche should be a hassle? I don't change my tyres myself, so it does not really matter to me where they get changed - same effort anyway.

Edit: and realistically you would mostly do it at the same time as a service anyway. It is not like I have punctures every other month....
It’s roadside that is the hassle.

Agreed, my reference is to non limited production order cars, i.e. Carreras. The cars you reference are a sub categories of a sub category (rare versions of rare GT cars!)

The Centre lock is something i think about quietly, solely because i do a lot of european road trips and this is what my car will be strictly/solely used for. Touch wood i have never needed to change a tire in any sort of emergency in all of the 16 years that i have driven round europe for vacation etc but still on the back of my mind!! figers crossed it will never be a thing.

My brother had a 4GTS Cab and it was crap, didn’t get with it whatsoever.
The prices of gts’s are too close to .2 turbo’s which are absolutely fantastic, which is abit of an issue.

A gts coupe with cl’s does look good on paper and may be one the best looking 997’s made, but value wise a manual .1 turbo or pdk .2 turbo definitely is the better choice

If he's chosen the GTS coupe he would probably have had a better experience.

I’d say the 4 GTS Cab is probably the worst one you could buy as a drivers car. Added weight and the inherent lack of rigidity in a Cab are not a good combination !

That one has been for sale for close to (if not) a year. I think it started closer to £70K. Lovely colour though.

£62k for a 4wd GTS with 95k miles a hard to clean colour and a wannabe GT3 bodykit.

A high mileage 997 GT3 would make more sense or a lower mileage 997.2 C4S.

Yes, but you had to get all Blue Peter on it, and then you were carting around 20kg payload, having reduced your frunk space.

The CLs were a fashion accessory. Bauble wheels. They didn't even fill the arches properly, which is why I bought a set of wheels that did, from Chris ABP, who had assembled the set from the four corners of the globe.
I think I’ve done a bit better than a blue peter job personally but we’re all entitled to our opinions. I haven’t weighed the set up but I’m pretty sure it’s nowhere near 20kg (a few litres of fuel would weigh a similar amount) and it has a tiny impact on boot space that I’ve yet to notice. I like the CL design and see it as part of the GTS thing (gimmick of not), and now it’s not something that causes me any concern.

I spoke to Chris a lot about his GTS project before he bought a GT4 (bought my sharkwerk pipes from him) and yes his 997.2 GT3 CL wheels were lovely.

The Blue Peter reference was: You had to improvise as a work-around. Not that you did it badly. Blue Peter held very high standards you know! Did you not see the Christmas decorations made from wire coat hangers?

Ref Chris's wheels. I fitted them once and took them off again. They filled the arches better but Chris had put Cups on them and I found the car a bit grippy out of corners. I put them back in the garage and eventually sold them to a chap who had done a GTS homage, because I CBA to swap the tyres out.

Interesting, I've never seen that the .2 aerokit uses the .1 GT3 rear wing.

The wheels are probably in their factory finish but the car would look soooo much better if they were silver.

Am no fan of black wheels usually, but I disagree with you. I think the GTS suits them.

Silver wheels really need the pccbs to keep the wheels, brake/hub assemblies and arches looking clean.

The red seat belts are a bit much but this one is lovely. Seems a good price - if only manual! frown

Does anyone know this manual 997.2 GTS? Asides from the red leather interior (appreciate that is marmite to some) I'm struggling to see why it has been on the market for well over a year. I personally quite like the red.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202409204...

I sold my platinum silver manual GTS to Paragon last summer due to needing the funds for a home renovation. I wish I'd just added finance to the car for funds, as I miss it a lot! Thinking about buying another now, but as to be expected, not many manuals listed...
