Don’t under estimate the newer engine. I currently have both 991.2 gt3 manual cs and speedster. The speedster is circa 50kg’s heavier. The speedster has noticeably more pull at the top end of the Rev range. I think it’s fair to say the 992 will be lighter than a speedster so the difference the new engine makes will be noticeable.
That's great to read from an actual owner of these two cars and both with identical Manual gear boxes. I had a 991.2GT3 PDK and now an RS WP and i can tell that my RS pulls harder than my old GT3 did. I expected it with an extra 20Hp and probably a good 30-40Kg less weight but with your Speedster's extra weight and only 10Hp more is much more telling.

Given the basically same engine with only minimal 10bhp power increase slightly more weight and inferior straight line performance of the 992 over 991.2 up to 125mph and without being cynical many existing owners could well be viewing the 992 GT3 RS with its bigger engine and likely c525bhp as the only worthwhile next realistic proper GT3 worth considering.

Interesting that the 469bhp of the 991.1 increased a worthy 24bhp in the 991.2 together with other major improvements too.

992 GT3 will no doubt be a decent package but is it great enough especially having regards to the marmite looks and price hike with possibly still more increases ££ to come.

Yes we wait with baited breath and it will be interesting to read reviews from HC CH and other quality journos.

A guy is looking to buy a .2 gt3 and my dealer asked if id mind giving him a run out , had a couple of good opportunities to open it up and to be honest could not feel any weight difference in speed or handling.Pulled in and gave him a go at the wheel, surprising how you feel vulnerable with someone else opening it up, but the ride in passenger seat was superb .Pay off being , he's pulling his M3 CSL out of hibernation come spring and going to return the favour, he's had it from new now with 60k miles, KWS, AP brakes and Supersprint exhaust so yum yum yum.

I hadn’t realised that the 992 had adjustable wing settings for downforce....it’s got a track and road setting. So these lap times will have been set with the track setting I assume....combine track downforce, tyres and faster track I wonder how much quicker it really is versus the old car without those things all adding to the performance. .

All winged GT cars have adjustable wing, so fair assumption to make that 991 would have been set to its optimum position for its runs also.

Much more downforce, smoother faster 'Ring, R spec tyres along with a grippier front end added up together is enough to account for the faster time.
I'm afraid there is also a fair bit of marketing bluff to entice buyers to chase the latest and greatest. Imagine trying to market the 992GT3 with a 'Ring time only a couple of seconds faster than the previous gen.

Not sure how many miles you have on your GT3RS, but at around 1500 ( Inc about 1k on track) the blue engine run in light goes out. Then the engine drives like its on another Map, it really comes alive in sounds also. I am really looking forward to get this new GT3 on track have some Cup 2 R ready to go on, based on just how good my 991.2GT3 was with just a few GEO and ride height settings, have high expectations for this new car..

I Have used Cup 2 R on my 2RS on both to and from Silverstone. You need to find the right track conditions to get the best from them. They require a fair bit of heat before they are at their best, though expensive they are worth the effort to try at least once. Care needs to taken though when its wet/damp on roads. Tbh the latest Cup 2s that were on the Gen 3RS were in my opinion a good step up over the ones that were on the 991RS in terms of grip and track time usage.
