I think the big squeeze will come in the middle market ... less so where interest rates on financed cars are already in place ... far more where those squeezed cannot afford the current interest rates on finance particularly when there may ultimately be no overs ...

This is a significant proportion of the market particularly when there is an awful lot of metal already not being used ... that may be sold as a stop-loss ... the domino effect.

I don't agree with the view that nothing is moving. During & after my search for a 992 GT3 I counted 17 used 992 GT3s sold from OPCs since early Feb and they are only the ones I was tracking. With the exception of 3 flipped, virtually new, <150 mile cars which were listed for >£200k, all the others were previously listed for less than £200k and some in the £18xk range. The 30+ 992 GT3s for sale now are not the exact same 30+ that were for sale 3 months ago. Even with potential recession looming, bills going up, high interest rates etc, there will always be demand for GT3s and cars that are realistically priced even in a poverty spec will sell. Those that have been sitting for a long time are priced unrealistically such as a 2021 winged, 2 owner, few thousand miles listed for £206k
That may be true of the 992, but my search and info is based on the 991.1 and .2 and its all the same cars virtually with almost no price changes.
Exactly. My area of ‘expertise’ (exceptional nosiness) is the 997 GT3 and very little is shifting, at all.

I agree with those who say rates are now only returning to some sort of rational, long term norm.

I also wonder whether there is another bubble at play here? When many youngsters struggle to even get onto the property ladder, how many will have the spare capital to buy all these exalted GT cars when the likes of us come to hand the keys over? Probably not enough to maintain status quo. Granted, there seem to be plenty of youngsters renting or even still living with parents who are happy to lease an A-Class/A3/1 series, but in still skeptical.
Interesting you say this about 997’s, I’ve noticed a fair few gen1’s hanging about (mostly all comforts). However, flip side… JZM have sold 4 gen2’s in the last 2 weeks - 3 RS and one comfort gen2. Not so much choice now for gen2’s…

Jzm are normally the ones trying to drive the prices up, shocked they have reduced this as it was well priced already.

There’s now a 40k spread in sales asking prices on 911.2 gt3 cars. Interestingly OPC cars are slowly start to look best value over the second hand car dealers.

JZM seem to have sold the expensive looking 997.2 GT2RS as well as a 997.2 GT2, the lovely spec black over gold CS manual 991.2 GT3 seems to have sold too.

The white over gold 997.2 GT3RS at Ashgood seems to go up every couple of weeks, was £160k (well £159,xxx) then went to £162k now £164k. So maybe this thread’s title still remains true.

Cameron have a nice blue over gold RS at £188k and a nice looking Guards red comfort 997.2 GT3 at £120k.

Are the gen 2 997 GT3's worth the 30k premium over the gen 1's?

Some would say so (me included) others would not.

I love mine, had it 4 years this month and put 10,000 miles on it and will be in Scotland in a few weeks time, then Eurotunnel to Belgium, Germany, Austria and back in the summer.

I would really like 997.2 GT3RS but I don’t think I would use it any differently, in fact the cage would just be a pain when road tripping so for me it would only be vanity paying the £50k premium, doesn’t stop me looking every now and then though.

Definitely. Very different cars.

Driving experience is quite different and technically they have quite a few revisions and changes, most notably; the 3.8 engine (over the 3.6 in the gen1), plus stuff like active engine mounts and centre lock wheels.

Should be said that some don’t get on with the suspension (I know of 3 people who own or have had the Gen 2 GT3/RS but prefer the 996 GT3 on track) on track and also that while they look by cool, centrelocks can be an utter pain.

Horses for courses, but the Gen 2 GT3/RS cars are arguably the most advanced evolution of analogue sorts car and certainly a high water mark for driver’s cars.

Whatever, all 997 GT3’s, from Gen 1 non RS to the Gen 2 4 litre RS are wonderfully fun cars.

No, it’s a new secret air brake system.

997 gt3 gen 2 have always carried a healthy premium over the gen 1s.

Nice 997 gen 2 seem to sell quickly.

A chunk invested for very little return, doesn’t make good business sense.

Maybe the sale fell through on CC.

We’d all want to talk up our own cars, but for me it was no. I appreciate the Gen 2 had subtle revisions in the suspension etc. but apart from the engine pretty much everything else is possible to retro or improve. Centre locks really put me off, and i prefer the Gen 1 styling so personally felt the >£30k premium was not worth it at all.

And the whole comfort thing is done to death, so easy to fit aftermarket seats and a cage if that floats your boat.

Lucky we all like different things, my Gen 1 comfort is the best car i’ve ever had now i’ve gelled with it properly. I’ll probably look at 991.2 GT3 next year and i’ll be wanting a comfort spec on that as well.

Maybe, although it's listed as "sold". Original list ~£155k.
