That was my thought too but it’s what a previous poster quoted.
Me and my £12k quote from Tuthill? That's for an assumed healthy Mezger to be taken out, stripped down, checked, put back together and back in the car.Once pistons and valves start connecting and rods exiting stage left, you'll be in a whole new world of pain.

For a lot of people who just want a GT style car but aren’t track addicts it’s surely going to put them off a 997.1 GT3 and those that are will wait to be able to afford a .2?
The GT3 from this era, .1 or .2 are different engines than the regular 911's so don't have the bore score or IMS issues.PRO5T said:
I too am of the opinion that 991.1 GT3s are very attractive at those price points...
A 996 and 997 GT are very different cars these days, in reality classic cars for most but a 991 for the same or in some cases cheaper? If someone asked to swap my 996 GT3 for a nice 991.1 GT3 I'd be seriously tempted... of course the correct answer is to have both but who has time for that?!
Interesting, I'm the opposite.A 996 and 997 GT are very different cars these days, in reality classic cars for most but a 991 for the same or in some cases cheaper? I don't think there is a price point where I would be tempted to swap my 997.2 GT3 for a 991.1, partly due to concerns over the engine but more so due to only being able to have the 991.1 with PDK (accepting it is brilliant).
Now if a manual 991.2 with the right spec ever came close to swapping money that would be a much bigger temptation...

Spec dependent isn't a good 997.2 GT3 very close to a 991.2?

I guess it depends what their SOR contract says.
Either way I can’t see many insurance companies paying out the 170k asking price.
Bet the owner must be gutted.
Sure the owner is gutted, especially for the hassle they are now going to have to go through. On price though, they'd be arguing for market value, wouldn't they? That may or may not be the asking price but given the car is for sale anyway you'd hope they won't lose out too much. Either way I can’t see many insurance companies paying out the 170k asking price.

ETA - could've just been very unlucky and had someone pull out on them. Initially thought red car in background was involved but looks like they are just turning around.
