GT3 prices going up

Resonance flaps and screws letting loose, and cam actuator bolts backing out due to engine harmonics, especially on anything with a LWFW, mitigated by having a harmonic dampener where there isn’t one.
997.1 seems to be best as it’s a little less complex due to variable valve control…intake side only.
It’s also the unit of choice for big bore upgrades like Sharkwerks builds.

Any known issues with engines in the 997.1/2 gt3 or rs engines?
YesThere were a few con rod failures on the 997.1, mine being 1 of them.
There were also a few issue on all with coolant pipes and the 997.2 RS had issues with harmonics causing activator bolts backing out on the cams and another issue with the flaps in the inlet breaking off.
Nothing is bulletproof all low numbers compared to the 991.1 issues

997.1/2 Mezger engine has a few issues. The coolant hoses is probably the most potentially serious, because not only can it wreck the engine and also send coolant under the tyres causing it to crash, but the coolant spills have also been known to cause extremely serious multi-car crashes.
The snag is there’s not always any warning. Not drips of coolant on the garage floor, or anything. The adhesive holding the coolant fitting will show no leaks, until the engine is very hot and at high revs - i.e. on the track - and then they let everything go. I have seen one occasion where a 997.2 3.8 GT3 RS had just a slight leak which misted the car his mate was driving behind, through Foxholes, and the engine coolant warning flagged up before he’d trashed the engine or filled the track with coolant.
It’s not an impossible fix, but important.
Rennlist is a good source of info.

I’ve been behind a 997.2 RS 3.8 at Donny when coolant hoses let go, I initially thought that something had broken on the chassis on my car! The sudden loss of grip is certainly chastening!
Yes got in car video oil line on a 993 coming off and following car hitting oil at 145 mph entering Eau Rouge PRO5T said:
Mat, formally of fernsport is convinced there’s a bad batch of 997.1 engines out there that will all fail catastrophically at some point.
No not Matt I am, due to the low mileage of some of the 997.1 and my failure happen at 40k there are a lot of car still not reached that pointFL Racing said:

ETA 997 engine and gearbox parts are getting somewhat rarer and more expensive these days.

Mines pushing on toward 50,000 miles. Will have to find a different justification for a 3.9 upgrade.

To be honest mate it probably cheaper to keep the 7.1 and buy a 991.1 than turn your 3.6 into a 3.8 or 4.0 these days

Hence projects in the works to mate 991.2 DGG to 997 GT
Interesting who’s doing this any links info?Even when they finish who knows if it will be something that is repeatable or translates to other markets… but they have seen that Mezgers are not easy or cost effective to replace now, and that actually for the purposes of driving/keep 997 GT running on the track, this could be a cool way forward.

Yep I have a reserve on it, having it inspected and then go from there.
But would like to here from previous owners or anyone who knows car.
Hi FL RacingBut would like to here from previous owners or anyone who knows car.
I assume you did not go through with the purchase of the mIami blu Gt3 as it is still for sale. I am tempted as I sold my 992 GTS which I found way too. hard for our Scottish Roads.
Can you share your thoughts on the car if you viewed it
Thanks
Sid
