Is it ever worth it? There are 45 992 S's for sale, the spec all blends into the 'usual-usual' - how far removed are those for sale from what your spec is? Not withstanding the supposed enjoyment of speccing from new, but surely the year long (and longer) order time (and uncertainty) why not just buy a used one?
umm 2 things really , 1 I want what I want , 2 dont want a car that some other Arse has clowned about in , "supposed enjoyment of speccing from new" really ?

So I am now #3 in the queue at my local OPC. The dealer doesn’t have the national sequence number, but it must be large given the number of OPC’s. I no longer believe in random events… it is a signal: enjoy the Boxster for another season and wait for the 992.2.

Can they give you any idea of the delivery? You may have no option but to wait for 992.2 but I think they are producing the car quite fast as 2 people I know their 992 are delivered 2 weeks early and so you may get it sooner, obviously it depends how many cars are delivered to the UK dealers per month - something we wouldnt know.

They think I should get it still this year, but it’s pure speculation, until I get a build allocation. If I get an allocation in July, I will grab it. However, if I get it for Dec, I will probably pass it to the next person in the queue and I will wait for 992.2.

Hello, thought I’d add my timeline for reference:

Ordered 992 Turbo S Jan 21.
Allocation confirmation Dec 21.
Build slot Mar 22 (moved to Apr 22).
Arrived at OPC May 22.

For SA, my dealer says it’s the only 992 Turbo S allocation he has had for 2022 so far.

I would just say you may get an allocation two to three months before the actual build of the car. I had my allocation in Feb 22 for a car to be built in June with delivery in July (hopefully). Spec to be done by end April.. So if you get an allocation in December you may actually see the car ready for spring 23. Hope that helps.

Very useful reference point! Thanks for your insight.

Yes, that is what I am expecting… I am surprised how long does it take to get an allocation. In my previous life, when I used to drive BMW, I would get an allocation days after I placed request for build to order vehicle. That was over a decade ago, on a diff continent.

I was told by the porsche dealer that the delivery of 992.2 will start in November 2023. So it will be a long wait if he is right.

Has anybody on this forum received 911 C2S recently?

Two weeks ago I saw 911 GTS being delivered at my OPC, but they have not seen C2S for +6-months.

If it helps my C4S should hopefully be built in a couple of weeks time and be delivered in July.

That is awesome, post some pics, when it arrives.

I was getting worried that with the parts shortage new GT cars are prioritised.

Have a look at my post on Page 1. Spoke to the dealer a couple of weeks ago and although it had slipped a week or so was still on track for June build and July delivery…

Out of interest, @bl0498 , why did you select C4S?
I am patiently waiting for C2S allocation, which is not happening fast enough :-/

Historic really. We have a 996 and when we bought that my wife whom drives it a lot was concerned about tail happy 911 behaviour so we bought a C4…. Hence I have just continued that even though I know we don’t really need it etc… bit more reassurance in the winter too.

Still at stage 3 in the app so don’t think it’s hit production yet…

I’m hopeful this it will switch from 3 to 4 next week which the pictures off the line to follow. I didn’t get these last time and although it doesn’t change anything it seem a fun thing to have.

Very interesting… I have two friends with C4S, both bought for arb reasons and enjoy it tremendously!

I really want C2S if it ever arrives :-|

My C2S is due into OPC mid-July, it’s still showing stage 3 on the app but it’s definitely in production as I was in OPC yesterday and saw it was in build on their system

Glad I’ve already got deposit in for my next one as they suggested 24 months lead time for somebody walking in now with no history!
