Porsches huge commitment and £££ investment in its Chilean alternative fuel plants always meant this was its strategy all along.

I guess these are cancelled orders that have already gone to build, but the car isn't actually ready?

I chased my dealer for an update a couple of weeks ago, and haven't heard anything (not unusual), so I presume the first actual cars are yet to be delivered.

75 million USD isn't a lot to Porsche - or wasn't in 2022 - and while it has lots of PR value, could the the project ever really be a market changer?

Perhaps they are dealer demos that they are trying to sell before the end of the year as stock cars.

Already looks like £20k discounts against list for 992.2 base model (with 30k options), have to say very tempted.

Think I'd be putting my money into a 992.1 GTS at a similar price, as OPC's are knocking them out brand new (stock available) at 20k discount.

Can see what you mean but for me the base model is better (tried a gts and for me way too harsh for evening airport runs) , and I do like all the options, once you take a gts with same options its back up to a bigger number. I guess I was more pointing out that they are already heavily discounted.

i had a 992.1 gts and i confirm it was WAY too hard for UK roads. Don't get me started on tyre resonance. The car lasted 4 months.

I too would look at base model and steer well clear of anything with -10mm PASM. Not sure they fixed the tyre nose issue.

Whereas I have no issue with everyday driving in the 992.1 Targa GTS.

I just think the Gen 2 are massively overpriced, and the base models don't really move anything on, whereas at least there is a fundamental difference between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 GTS, regardless whether you believe it to be good or bad.

In the Chris Harris review of the new GTS, he specifically mentioned that the tyre noise was massively reduced.

Perhaps if it says 1k miles, then it's the OPC's demonstrator which they may not yet have had delivered?

Regarding your order, did you get another invite to a Driving Experience?

That's because the Targa did not get the Lowered Sport PASM suspension that other 992.1 GTS all had, so has spring rates that are around half and a much better ride.

There are also some (but very few) GTS 992.1 coupes/cabrio that had the Sport PASM optionally deleted for the 'normal' suspension.

Harris was driving the car on smooth Spanish roads.

Check Harry Metcalf review on the same subject, he tried a base 992.2 on UK roads and the verdict was pretty much the polar opposite.
