Hi All,

I'm loving my Boxster (2010 model in red) which I've had since about May this year.
Having defrosted my windscreen this morning and turned the car off to save a bit fuel, I then returned to the car.

Starting her up as per usual all seemed fine except the message "Failure Indicator" appeared on the LED display with a picture of a thermometer... My research leads me to believe this is indicating the temperature sensor or something connected to it isn't functioning and sure enough the gauge doesn't go past 0 even when the cars been running for 30 / 40 minutes...

Can anyone advise what the problem is, what the solution would be and roughly what sort of money I'd be looking at?

I bought the car from Maundrell and Co and they were excellent when I had a minor issue previously, but they're in Wantage and I'm in Basingstoke so it's a bit of a trek to take the car back their...

Does anyone have any recommendations for garages / mechanics in the Basingstoke area who could give my pride and joy the care and attention she needs?

Thanks in advance,

Cre8.

Morning,

it's the temperature sensor. I've just had exactly the same issue on my 07 Cayman. Apparently the internals of the sensor break down after water gets in over a period of time. I got mine fixed under warranty as I only bought the car this year from Cridfords.

The part didn't look very big and only took an hour for them to fit, most of that time was letting the engine cool down after the trip there so they could work on it. Can't comment on cost though sorry.

That sounds a similar response to the chrome shower basket that I took back to B&Q after it started going rusty.

The response was "It will rust if it gets wet everyday".

Temperature sensor and water ingress??
