Boxster 981 Black Edition 2.7 PDK

34,000m -- 4(!) Owners -- 16 plate first reg 3/3/2016

New to me, collecting Saturday week.

Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK)
Sport Chrono Package with dynamic transmission mounts
Sports exhaust system
Bi-Xenon headlights incl Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS+) with dynamic high beam
Climate control
Porsche communication management with Navigation module
Digital radio
Bluetooth
Parkassist front & rear
Sport Design steering wheel
Cruise control
Sports seats Plus (2-way, electric)
Heated seats
Wind deflector
Electrically folding exterior mirrors
Dimming mirror/rain sensor
Fire extinguisher
Full colour wheel centre caps

Vendor/OPC photos show 20" Sport Techno wheels, but I'm having them switched to Carrera Classics. Were they not painted maybe I could've lived with them, but as they are, and as someone pointed out they're about the heaviest wheels available they're being consigned to OPC parts bin.

A bit different to my 986 of last year, but a welcome upgrade. Hopefully won't need the included two years OPC warranty but it gives me a little peace of mind. As part of the deal it's having first major service, plugs and brake fluid plus first MOT included too (due 2 March anyway).

Looks very nice. But can a 2.7 spin 20” rims convincingly enough?

Well done, car looks great and good options including the essential paddle wheel. I had such a laugh in a boxster while my car was in for a week warranty repair.

I saw your other thread, personal thing of course but both sets of wheels look good IMO. Weight will make no observable difference in performance and you would have to compare the weight of the 10" rims -
I doubt if any material difference. Sport techno are just a bit different - I quite like the black paint job - is that not factory colour?

Happy driving.

Mine's a non S 981 Boxster and has no problem on 20" wheels if you want to get a little sideways.

Re straight line performance, I actively chose a non-S over an S as most of my driving is on smaller country roads and I find the lower power output better suited to the roads I drive.

I think it sounds better with PSE than my friend's GT4 with PSE, not sure why.

I did choose a manual 'box however.

Lovely car OP and nice options!

Thanks all (most). thumbup

Getting a bit excited now. Going to view it again tomorrow - the closer look I should've done before committing to it. hehe

Hey up Justin! Yep, probably be at Hart for 6N on Sunday, but not in the boxster yet. A couple of weeks to wait.

How's yours going? All good I hope?

ETA: scrub that, Lamb more likely.

Still enjoying the boxster, just had its 2 year service with no issues. Watched the game at the lamb on Sunday, lets hope they have not peaked to early. Will keep an eye out for you on Saturday.

Good news! thumbup

Mine's to get first major service before I pick it up which saves me a few bob and a little angst.
I'm not collecting until 23rd, must've got muddled in OP - prefer to have DD after 21st of month and that was the only way they could accommodate me. Monthly payment due date is on same day of month as completion date.
Went to see it again on Saturday morning. Spent half an hour fiddling with knobs and reading the Owners Manual, acclimatizing myself. biggrin

Eleven more sleeps...

Might be (to some) a silly question.

What are the differences between a 'Black Edition' car and one that is painted black ,black trim and black roof? Never understood.
Looks very nice!

Thanks

Not entirely certain, but I think it was introduced to help shift the end of the line as the 718 was due.

Options included in price were black paint, a set of 20-inch Carrera Classic wheels, xenon headlamps and a black soft top, partial-leather black interior with the Porsche crest embossed on the headrests, as well as touchscreen sat-nav and a Sport Design steering wheel. Parking sensors and an upgraded sound system are also included, as are auto lights and wipers and cruise control.

Other options such as PSE and PASM may be added at the time of order.

Black cars do look great, especially with some silver in the wheels to set the paint off.

It's the constant washing which got to me when I had my Panther Black TTS. Are you prepared for this? Had a black car before?

They are a lovely car to wash though. Very sensual as you sponge down her rear end and caress the curves, working up a lather as you go...

I would def keep the sports wheels, they are wider and take the newer tyres better and are rare and look better !

it looks great how it is, DON'T swap the wheels to normal ones !!!

Do you need to have a private moment DJMC? haha

Mine is white and it seems to be able to go forever before I feel I need to wash it! I've had black before and echo your sentiment.
